Mrs. Joe Armstrong and granddatighter, Sally Armstrong of Detroit, 'Michigan, spent the past week with Mr. and Mrs. John Thonipson, Betty, Jim, Sharon and Bob. Barry Turner of Tuckersmith Spent a few days holidays with his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Reg Lawson, John and Elizabeth. Mr. and Mrs. Nick Tzannes of Toronto spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Medd and Nerri. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Preszator, Billy and Debbie, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Presacator, Dianne and Nancy spent the weekend camping at Elliott's Pine Lake. Several families from the community attended the wedding in Brodhagen of Laverne McClure and Nita Rapien on Saturday eve- ning. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Hart of Goderich accompanied by Mrs. Dolores Hart, Linda and Cheryl of Listowel visited on Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Buchanan and family. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Thompson and Joan spent the past week holidays at their cottage at Birch Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Van der Molan, Paul, Mark and Margie of Oakville spent the holiday weekend with Mrs. W. L. Whyte, Tom, Bill and Mr. Harold Whyte. Mr. and Mrs. Andy Thompson of Ottawa spent the holiday week- end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John ThOmpson, Betty, Jim, Sharon and Bob, and 'friends. They all spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Terrence Hunter of Colborne Township for a family picnic. Sunday visitors with Mrs. Ella Jewitt and boys were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dowson, Brenda, Bon- nie, and John of Varna, Miss Pat willert of Goderich. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Dorrance are being visited by her aunt from Germany who will be with them fo'r an extended visit this fall. Miss Betty Thompson started school on Tuesday in Toronto at the Canadian Mother Craft Col- lege. We would like to wish her much success in, the year ahead. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Goodfellow of Georgetown spent the holiday weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Riley and family. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Philippi of Preston spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John WamMes and John. A family gathering was held on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Jewitt. Those atten- ding were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Glew of Dorchester, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Jewitt and Jeffrey who are now living in their new home in Clinton from the community, Mr. Bev Jewitt of Wyoming, Mrs. Elma Jewitt and Brian and Mrs. Annie Leitch. Bruce had the misfortune on Monday to fall in her home and fracture her hip. She is in seajorth Community Hospital. Mrs. F. Hutchings, Stanton, Cal., who has been on an extended trip to Germany , visited her sister Mrs. E. Hawley and brother, Mr. Zack McSpadden while enroute to her home. The second meeting of the Seaforth II I "Milk Maidens" took place Tuesday at the home of Janice and Joanne Schenck. Officers elected are - Pres.,- Jean McKaig; 'Vice- Pres. -Joan Nobel; Sec. - Treas. - Joanne Schenck; Press -Rep. - Mary Ann Hauwert. Business revolved around the importance. of milk. Dowson opened the meeting with 'a short story. Group 2 had charge of devotions with Mrs. Grant Webster leading, prayer was given by Mrs. Mervyn Hayter, the scripture lesson was read •by Mrs. Watson Webster also a reading on harvesting. Mrs, Murdock Morrison took up the offering' and Mrs. Harvey Hayter dedicated it. A, presentation was made to Mrs. Watson Webster who has recently moved to Clinton: Mrs. Grant Webster read the address which was writ- ten [ by Mrs. Sherlock Keys. Mrs. C. Wey, McKillop Unit, presided. "Jesus stand among us" was sung with Mrs. M. Baan as pianist. Scripture was read by Mrs. wm. Roe from the Gospels of St. Luke and St. John. Community Friendship "& Visiting presented a skit entitled "Don't Let It Happen Without Me" with Mrs. N. Scha.de, Mrs. M. Baan_arici_Mrs-D.. Watsoniaking_ part. A film "Drumbeat to Dialogue" showing the need for communication in a changing cul- ture in Africa was introduced by Mrs. N. Reid, assisted by Mrs. D. Docken. Mrs. J. Clark, vice-president presided for the business. The Treasurer's report was given by Mrs.' K. McDonald. McKillop Unit will • be responsible for flowers in sanctuary in Septem- ber and a Bale will be sent with articles to be at the church by October 25th. Mrs. MdCall read thank you letters from Ango- la and Fred Victor Mission. Re- signations are to be submitted in writing 'by October 31;st to Mrs. C. Ritchie. The October Exe- cutive meeting is extending a special invitation to all members. Social Functions Committee will name committees for the 'annual. • fowl supper at a committee meet- ing. The 1972 Anglican-United Church calendar was drawn to members attention. Mrs, Clark closed the meeting with prayer. Sunday School promotion will be held on Sunday at Duff's United Church, Walton, during the morn- ing church service which begins at 11 a.m. Mission Band will follow. Mrs. Carter. Mrs. Nelson Macks welcomed everyone to this special evening for Karen and opened the program with a musical number by Dianne and Bruce Godkin, assisted by their mother at the piano. Mrs. Nelson Reid gave two readings. The "Silver Strings" including the young musicians Fay Dalton at the piano, Linda Godkin with the violin, Beth McNichol with the banjo and Ray McNichol play- ing the electric guitar entertained the large audience with several selections during' the evening. Corsages were pinned on Karen, Mrs. Coutts and 4-H MEETING The first .meeting of the Walton II 4-H Homemaking club, "Dairy Fare" was held on Wed- nesday at the home of the leader, Mrs. Don Nolan. The meeting opened with the election of officers resulting as follows,: " President - Heather McDonald; Vice-President - Pat McDonald; Secretary - Alterna- ting; Press Reporter - Marie Nolan. It was decided that the name of the club would be Walton II "Dairy Daisies". The next meet- ing is to be held at the home of the assistant leader, Mrs. Don McDonald on Saturday. • The group discussed the topic, Milk in Many Forms". Hand- out sheets were given to fill in after the discussion. • Mary Anne Blake demonstra- ted how to make hcit chocOlate while Joyce, Blake made grilled cheese sandwiches. The club girls ate the finished products and decided that they were delicious.
