Mrs. JQ Van traikengoed and
Mrs. Frank iliamilton were the
convenors of the Home Econo-
mics and Health meeting of the
Staffa Women's Institute held in
the township hall on Wednesday
evening, August 25. The presi-
dent, Mrs. John Miller presided
and opened with the Institute
Ode and Mary Stewart collect..
Fifteen members answered the
roll call by naming an improve-
ment they would like to see in
the township.
A letter was read from the
Institute's adopted child in Tur-
key. Training school for the el-H
leaders was announced. Mrs. Ed.
Chappeireported on the District
Directors executive meeting re-
minding members of the area
convention at Clinton, September
30 and October 1, also the county
rally in Stratford on October 21.
Mrs. Frank Hamilton gave an
interesting paper on the motto -
"If you look back too much, you'll
soon head in that direction."
Mrs. Robert McCaughey gave
a reading "My Purpose". Mrs.
Jo Van Valkengoed introduced
the guest speaker, Mrs. Cannon,
from the Perth District Health
Unit, who very ably described
the units work in prenatal care,
preschool and school visits and
their work with the elderly, by
word and pictures.
Courtesy remarks were given
by Mrs. Frank Hamilton. Follow-
big the meeting a silent auction
bake sale was held. Hostesses
for a dainty lunch were Miss
Olive Speare, Mrs. Carter Kers-
lake and Mrs. Robert parsons.
