Mr. Ray 10Kinnon spent a few days here making plans to move back to Zurich. He has resigned from the Bank Of Montreal and, will be associated with Zurich Wood Pkoducts. From the Lucknow Sentinel we note that several repregentatives prom the town of Wiarton were in Lucknow recently viewing the arena, the recent addition and re- strengthening program which was completed on the build- ing. A report of engineers has indicated thatehe Wiarton arena is not designed to safely handle a heavy snow load or high wind velocity. A report and recommendations will be presented to the Wiarton Council. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Breckles quietly observed their 55th wedding anniversary recently. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gardner marked their 58th wedding anniversary on Friday. • The Clinton News-Record in the Bayfield news items relates that Bayfield council will soon be losing one of its members, Rev. Donald Beck, whenhe moves to Hensall. The new member of council will be Mr. Ted Gozzard. Clinton is nicely decorated this week with flowerpots on all the lamp-posts. They add great deal of beauty to the town. 'The town and merchants should be congratulated on the completion of this project. The Auburn Explorers, held a graduation dinner. For the annual affair the mothers and grandmothers were guests, A red star to Lori Elliott; blue stars to Jane Thompson, Connie Trommer, Sherry Verbeek and Janet Cook 'and gold stars were given to the graduates, Marilyn Wightman,. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Allen marked their 35th wedding* anniversary recently. They have two daughters, Sheila,- Mrs. Ken Farquhar, London, and Mary Lynn, Mrs. Warren Priestap, Stratford. Mrs. Allen has one brother, Elmer Colquhoun, Clinton and Mr. Allen has- one 'sister, Mrs. Harold Coleman, Seaforth. Tod Weekley, a Listowel Cub, has been awarded the highest .badge in Cubbing and Scouting, according to the Listowel Banner, at Christ Anglican Church recently. The badge, the religion_andlife award, is earned injour_stages.,.. James Johnston, leader of the Second Listowel Cub Pack made the presentation. Tod has also earned five stars and 18 badgeS. The local Kinette Club, providing the hospital board sanctions it, :will install eleven- overhead lights in the chronic wing of the Listowel Memorial Hospital. Cost of the , project is estimated at $800. The LionS Pool Committee of Atwood ire disturbed by after hour use'of the pool and abuse of the facilities. From the Milverton Suri we note -that Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ward observed their 59th wedding anniversary. •The first property holder in what is now Milverton was Joseph Hamilton. He had a farm of 100 acres bounded on the 'south by the present Mill Street West and on the east by Main Street North. In, 1848 Joseph Hamilton sold' his farm to Andrew West, a native of New York State. The price paid was a pair of boots. A capacity crowd enjoyed the amateur pro- gram which was presented by Ming and old. Eric Anderson acted as chairman and contri- buted, his share 'of stories and jokes. The program opened with the singing of '0 Canada' with Mrs. Gilbert Smith at the piano. Linda Godkin played a violin solo ac- companied by June Gbdkin which was .followed by a vocal solo by Jill Wheatley. Jim Axtmane-gave a humorous reading "Casey's Billy Goat" and Rik/ McNichol played his electric guitar, accompanied by Grace Small. The Kindergarten Class sang and per- formed a motion song. A trio , Faye Dalton, piano, Beth McNichol, banjo and Linda Godkin, violin was enfoyed. Linda, Patsy Anderson and Doris Dolmage sang Snow Bird and were followed with a violin solo by Stanley Hillen, accompanied by' Mrs. Edith Dunlop. Linda Axt- mann, Nancy Schade and Sharon Pethick sang, "Open Up Your Heart".- 'Jill Wheatley played a piano instrumental followed with a skit presented by Del- phine Dolmage and Dorothy Dal- ten. The program concluded with a reading by Ruth Camp- bell. Mr. and Mrs. Brittcm were called to the platform and on behalf of the U.C.W., Olive Lit- tle and raja Dodds presented Mrs. Britton with a battery wall clock, and an oil painted auto-' graphed table cloth. Francis Hunt, George Pethick, and Doug- las Schroeder, presented Mr. and Mrs. Britton with a wall mirror heicrplerse-of-money; Earl McSpadden read the fol- lowing address: " It hardly seems possible that ten years have elapsed since you commenced your ministry at Cavan Church, Winthrop. For- tunately for our congregation when the former McKillop charge was being re-organized, we had you, M r. 'The fact that you came out of a solid rural background anti served the Church during the difficult pression, the war period, through the present affluent period, no doubt contributed to your success. Your fellow , clergy- men have recognized, your abilities in electing you chairman of Presbytery on several occas- ions as well as 'chairman of var- ious committees. Here again your ability to lead but not force has stood you in good stead and helped immeasur- ably in resolving the problems at hand. your recognized ability to mix with people from all walks , of life has meant,-that you have contributed your talents to many worthy activities in, the commun- ity.
