To too many Canadians the
hot muggy days of summer are
something to be accepted - with
complaint perhaps - but accepted
nevertheless.
But this is not the case.
Modern air, Cenditioning is the
answer. It efficientlY removes
muggy heat and replaces it with
cool', dehumidified air. More and
more Canadians today are
discovering the real joy and com-
fort of air conditionibg - particul-
arly the centralfzed system that
maintains even temperatures and
humidity throughout the entire
home all year long.
Mahy persons think of air
conditioning as cooling only.
Actually, the dehumidification
function performed by an air-
conditioning unit is equally
important, particularly" on days
which are- "muggy" or humid.
Central air conditioning also
filters the air that is circulated
through the house reducing dust,
dirt, pollen, smoke and other
air pollutants that might other-
wise be present. This air-
cleaning function not only cuts
down on cleaning but is bene-
ficial from the standpoint of
health, particularly to those who
suffer from airborne allergies.
Few 'people .really need to be
told_the many benefitS of home air
conditioning, including comfort
and happier family dispositions,
particularly on a hot summer day.
If yoUare contemplating cen-
tral air conditioning this year
here are a few tips from experts
worth considering before making
a purchase.
Since many factors enter into
getting the right kind of central
cooling system do not lie misled
by •alivertising offering a speci-
fied price. The system should be
tailored to your needs and the
cost will be affected by the amount
of 'glass exposed to the sun, the
amount of insulation in the walls
and' roof, the protection given by
trees and shrubs and the size
and layout of the rooms in the
home.
It is usually cheaper to in-
stall air conditioning in. a house
under construction, or in one
which has been planned so that the
same duct-work for distributing
air In winter can be used to dis-
tribute air in summer. r-

When the room is air con-
ditioned and people still get that
all-too familiar "clamthy" feel-
ing, the first' rekr, tion may be,
"We need a bigger air condition-
er."
• That 'clammy" feeling
comes when the room air condit-
ioner is more powerful than
needed, resulting in insufficient
humidity control. •
• True summer comfort takes
forethought, scare find planning.
The following points are offered
as a guide to maximum cooling
