Reeve Baker presiding and all members present. • Ernie Davis reported that he • had cleaned the highway from the tracks to Richardson's Store and had,done some patching with cold mix; the new sidewalks were completed and the car parks gravelled, new catch bain on Brock Street and one In the process of being fixed in front of George Thompson's; the dump • road gravelled, three dogs dis- posed of. He, asked permission to gravel opposite the Co-op Park. He was told to proceed but to first remove some of the mud. Discussion took place over the Park. It was decided to ask the- Dept. of Agriculture regard- ing grants to drain parks and put roofs •on Arenas. It was decided to wait- until next year to buy a mower for the tractor as the Park's • Board intends draining and reseeding the park. • Two students at $1.65 an hour and one man at $2.00 an hour are working at the park. It was suggested that painting the picnic tables be a rainy day job. Coun- cillor Knight sugg4sted another light at the back of the Arena. Council, in motion of Erb and Nellands, agreed to, give $75.00 • to the Agriculture Society. A letter from Municipal Af- fairs stated that Hensall would receive $956 for which they had applied although it was more than was allotted to them. It was decided to calculate the cost • FINES,T SELECTION OF 0 ti of two extra weeks work and ask for this in addition. The application for Sewers has not as yet been approved. ' Building permits were granted to Alvin Taylor, to build an extension to his house; to Mary Goodwin, for a patio; to Robert Raeburn, for a car port ; and a shed to be built at the school; to Jean Smith, to roof her patio; to Gerald Glen to tear down a verand; to Howard Scene, to tile a bathroom; to Harry Klungel, to build a patio. It was decided to withold per- mission for Mrs. Clark to put siding on her house. Vic Hargreaves asked Council to assist with the black top on the boulevard in fron t of the Sales Barn. Council figured that they could end up using all their road subsidy jest doing the boul- evard. Two bylaws to borrow money from the Bank of Montreal were read. One was for $12,000 for two years for the 13.11,C.41, the other for $15,000 fcir the Village of Heifsall until the tax money comes in. Accounts amounted to $5,153.05 were ordered paid. This amount included $339.94 for new chairs, $406.25 to Queensway Nursing Home. ' $1,543.45 for street lights; to date $198 for gravelling and bulldozing at the •dump, $40 of which will be billed to Boise Cascade. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Dayman of Jordan, spent. Friday with friends and relatives in Hensall. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bonthrdn and Shelley attended Graduation ceremonies on May 28th, at C 4en- tennial Hall for their daughter, Janice, a student of Fanshawe College of Applied Arts and Tech- nology, London, Ontario. Janice was awarded her dip- loma on completion•of the Early Childhood Teacher's Education Programme. After, they celebrated by having dinner at the Latin Quarter. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bonthron Janice, Shelley and Mrs. Bevan Bonthron attended Graduation ceremonies on June 5th at Huniber College of Appl,ed Arts and Technology in Toronto for their son,, Bevan. Bevan was awarded his dip- loma on completion of the Funeral Service Education Programme, After the graduation, a dinner and formal dance was held at the Seaway Hotel. Couple Wed 50 Years Mr. and Mrs. Alvin H. Beaton Of Spring Valley Drive, Westland, Mich., former well known Seaforth residents, ob- served their 50th wedding an- niversary May 23 at a family party. The Beaton's eldest son and- his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Beaton of Florence St., Garden City, welcomed the family to their home for the happy occas- ion. Others present included the other Beaton daughters and sons. Honoring their parents were Mrs. Pauline Belkowski of Westland, Mrs. Nancy Pittman of Detroit, Mr. Donald Beaton of Taylor, Mrs. Alva Redmond of Westland, Mrs. Connie Damitski of Detroit' and Mr. Winston Beaton of,..Wiu-- ren. The sons-in-law and dau- ghters-in-law of the couple were piesent as well ,,as • the eleven grandchildren and one great grandson.
