For 13rodhagen Teams
The schedules for the Brodhagen Brewers softball; team
and the Brodhagen juveniles softball team have been released.
The teams, which play in the Waterloo-Oxford Softball League
are both sponsored by the Brodhagen Chamber of Commerce.
Since there were not enough teams to compose different
divisions, the league consists of Intermediate, Juvenile and
' one Junior team.
Home games in the league, in the case of Atwood, Monkton,
Moorefield, Blyth and both Brodhagen teams, will be played
on hqme fields. Fullarton and Rostock will play home games
at Sebringville while Millbank will play in IVIllverton and Nile
will play home gimes in Blyth. All games in the schedule
start at 8:30 p.m.
The Brewers are coached by Don McLure and managed
by Wayne Wurdelli The Brodhagen Juveniles have Bob
Jarmuth as coach and George Jarmuth as' manager.

The third game of the season
was also played in Stratford
against Cleaver Brooks of Strat-
ford •when St. Columban man-
aged a 3-1 Victory. The opening
goal came about five minutes
after the opening whislte. Brad
Finlayson started the play and
went up the right side and just
dropped it in front of the goal
and was finished off by Kevin
Kale. The half finished off in
a one all tie.
In the second half there were

The Sea-forth Recreation
Committee held their regular
meeting at the Town Hall Tiles-
day evening.
It was revealed that the ten-
nis courts at ..the High, School
are available for use by the
general public • and the opinion
was expressed that More use
could be made of these facil-
ities. The coin mittee decided that
. if enough interest was I shown
it would strive to ,,set up a
,Tennis League in town, Inter-
ested persons are asked to get
in contact with ariy _member of
the committee.
The committed also discus-
- sed.. areas in which to increase
their activities in the fall to
provide more outlets for leisure
time, Two suggestions , which
were felt to be viable were the
formation of a horticultural socr-
iety and the setting up of clubs •

The Clinton Kinsmen Club
is again sponsoring 22 Snaday
race meets in Clinton beginning
Sunday, June 6th.
Improvements addedthis year
include a sheltered betting area
in case of foul• weather; elec-
tronic tote board and maxi tote
machines to cut delays; added
gravel and stone dust applied
to the surface and corner banks
of track; 120 horde stalls have
been semi winterized.

a class "B" racing track result-

quality of racing administration.

Columban have now played
ee games in Industrial League
Soccer and have come up with
a record of 2 wins and a tie.
The first game was a seven
40-j one victory on home field.
The second game of the schedule
was played against Stratford Can-
adians at Stratford Central field.
The two teams battled it out to
a nothing nothing tie. The game
was close all throughout with
both teams having some good
opportunities. Tom Ryan came
close to scoring on a couple of
occasions as well as Neil Murray.
Stratford was awarded a penalty
shot late in the second half but
A Grade 12 student at the
high school, Glen Dolmage, was'
the first walker to finish the
seventeen mile course,- reach-
ing Bayfield in two hours and
fifteen minutes. His time chop-
ped ten . minutes off his own
record set during a walk in
1969. Glen's pace was so fast
that he missed all hut, the-first
checkpoint,, ,pa.a.,sieg, the spots be-
fore the organizers bed set them
up.
Partidipants in the event are
urged to collect their pledges and
turn them in at the high school as
quickly as possible so final
tabulations can be made'.' for
publication next week. (See, plc- .
tures on page 9, front page,

Tops 'in
pener
The Brodhagen Brewers In-
termediate Softball Team,
playing in the -Waterloo-Oxford
Softball League, Won their season
opener against the Nile Inter-
mediates . Thursday night. The,
game was played Brodhagen
where the Brewers doubled the
score on the visiting team 18-9.
The Brewers were aided in
their victory by fine fielding
which saw them get three double
plays in the game. A .Grand
Slam home run by Dave' •Leon-
hardt in, the second inning
followed by a two run homer by
Al French, also in , the second
gave Brodhagen an early lead
which they never relinquished.
Winning pitcher for the Brew-
ers was starter Gary Little who
chalked up five • strike outs
and allow.ed two walks and ten
hits. me Brewers made four
errors as opposed to Nile's 7 in
gaining the win.
The next game Will be played •
tonight, June 3, at Brodhagen
with Monkton providing the op-
position. Game time is 8:30
P.M.

last weeks games were sched-
uled later in the week. Fire-
men were to meet Mainstreet
Wednesday night but the game
was rained out. In action Thurs-
day night the Turf Club defeated
Mechanics 7 - 3 and 'Teachers
ran up a 25-3 victory over Gen-
esco.

London led 1-0 at half time.
St. Columban pressed to the
attack fro m the opening of the
2nd half and tied the score after
10 minutes when Art Murray
broke in on the left, side and
fired a hard shot from a very
sharp angle that eluded ,Lion
goalie Charlie Bouwman .-and
bulged the top left cornerof the
London net to make it 1-1. The
Lions took the lead again when
winger Jan Arp cut, in on the
right wing and beat goalie 0'
' Reilly with a shot into the bot-,
torn right corner of the St. Col-
umban goal. St. Columban finally
tied the score at the 25 minute
mark when Tom Love fired a
shot that was 'aocked by the
London defence but the ball
bounced loose and George Love
fired it into' the bottom right
corner of the Lion net to make
the Score 2-2. St. Columban con-
tinued to press but couldn't beat
goalie Bouwman making the final
score 2-2. The next St. Columban
game will be against London
Olympians .at Labatt Park in
London on Saturday, June 5 at
4:30 p.m. Tillsonburg Athletics Qw
will play' here on Saturday, June
12 with kick-off at 4:00 P.M. at
the Sea.forth District High SchOol

After three weeks' of League
play, Teachers, Firemen and
Mainstreet all share it the lead
of the Sea-forth' IndustnalSoftball
League. Mainstreet and Fire-
men, however, have played one
game less due to a rainout last
week. That game has been re-
, scheduled for tonight, June 3,
at 7:00 P.M. at the Lions Park.
In League play Monday, the
Teachers defeated the winless
Mechanics 15 - 7 at the, Recrea-
tion Grounds while the Firemen

The ladies industrial softball
has reorganized for a second
year. The four, teams, are .the.,,
Swingers, Slammers, Weepers
and the, Bouncers. Games are
played at the Lion's Park and
at the Rec: every Tuesday even-
ing at '7-olctock.
On May. 25th .the Swingers
won over the Slammers at the
Rec. by 50 to 27. At Lion's Park
the Bouncers over the Weepers,
44 to 11.. On June 1st the Weep-
ers beat the Swingers at the Rec.
by a score of 32 to 27. The
Bouncers took the Slammers at
the Lion's 'park 'by 29 to 27.

it was a success. The recrea-
tion eo,rnmittee's share of the
proceeds will, be used to effect
Much needed repairs 'to the com-
munity centre. The committee
also wished to publicly thank
all those who helped with regis-
tration, manning 'checkpoints and
patrolling the route with special
thanks to all those who walked
or biked the 17 mile route and
those who acted as sponsors for
the event.
There will be no regular -
meeting of the Committee in
July.
