MRS; CLAIR HANEY
- Mrs. Clair Haney, 8916 La
Roca Ave., Fountain Valley, Col.
died in Hunting Beach Inner Com-
munity Hospital, Col. on May
4th. She was 47.
Born in Seaforth she was
Mildred McQuoid Finnigan, the •
daughter of Mrs. W. J. Finnigah
and the late Mr. Finnigan. She"
attended Egmondville and Sea:-
forth schools and graduated frOm
Seaforth Collegiate. She k was
married August 18, 1945 to Clair
Haney, who survives together
with a family of eight. They are ,
Lynn, Mrs. Neil Muller, Craig
on duty in Viet "Niem, Colin,
Cameron 18, Charles, Curtis 16,
Laurie 9 and Clair 7.
She is also survived by sis-
ters Jeannette, Mrs. A. F. Ed-
munds, Barrie and Bea, Mrs.
Ray Oke, Dutton and brothers,
Gordon F., Port Credit, R. Alex
and Grant Ni., Egmondville, Stew-
art and W. Harold, London.
Funeral services conducted
by Rev.. T. E, Hancock were
held at the Box funeral home,
Seaforth on. Saturday afternoon.
During the service Mrs. Elmer
Koehler sang "Beyond the Sun-
set". Interment followed • in.
Egmondville C emetery, Pall-
bearers being Alan Nicholson,
Robert Paterick, Anthony Sch-
ronstrom, D'Orleen Sills, Robert
Tyndall and Harold JacksOn.
Flowerbearers were Lyle Haney,
Mat Haney, Gary Fitrigan and
Wm. Finnigan. ,

Robert Edward HoltoM died
suddenly at his hoMe in Erin
on April 30th in his 54th year.
He is survived by his widow,
a son Bob of Erin and daughter,
Anna Marie, Mrs. Keith Wallace
of Toronto. lie IS also survived
by 'his Mother, Mrs. I. S,
Harriston and. sisters Meryl
Noonan, Guelph, Lu HoJtont, Lon-
don, Laura Murphy, Harriston,
Jean Lunn, Sektorth and Doris
Shannon, Barrie.
At his request his body has
been given to medical research. A memorial service was held at All Saints Church, Erin on
Monday, May 3rd.

On May 1st at 4 o'clock in
the afternoon, Muriel Louise
Elizabeth Cameron and Gerhard'
Osbitsch were joined in marriage
at Carmel Presbyterin Church,
Hensall with Rev. W •1). Jarvis
officiating.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Cameron,
Hensall. and the groom from
Calgary, Alberta is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. F. Osbitsch of
Austria.
The Church was decorated
with potted pink shasta daisies.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a white
dacron .floor-length gown with
high collar, Empire waist and
ldng cuffs attached to full sleeves.
Her long' train hung full from her
shoulders. White lace threaded
with pink ribbon enhanced the•
gown at the neckline, waistline
and on the train and roses were
appliqued on the upper part of
the dress front. Tendrils of small

The Legion Ladies Auxiliary
met Tuesday evening for their
May meeting with 1st Vice Presi-
dent, Mrs. "Howard :Smale pre-
siding. ' Past president,' Mrs.
Garnet Allan installed a new
member, Mrs. Mar y Hallam.
It was announced that in a
recent canvas by members of the
village for the Red Cross $220
was realized. 1st vice president,
Mrs. Howard Smale, presented a
gift to Nifs. Mildred Chalmers for
her infant son: An invitation to
bowl in a tournament in Seaforth
May 15th was accepted.

brides-to-be thanked the ladies
arid invited them to their homes
after their Wedding to see their
things. The hostess Kins-
frith assisted by Mrs. Grade
Drummond served lunch.
Miss Rae Hutson, Staffa, also
entertained Diane to a miscel-
laneous shower attended' by
school friends of Diane. Several
contests were conducted by Judy
Jeffrey and Betty McGregor. An
address was read by Betty Mc-
Gregor' and Diane was given
many beautiful gifts. Lunch was
served by Rae and Mrs.Butson.
The Kippen 4-H girls met at
Mary Taylor, Mrs. John Skea,
Mrs. Paul 'Neilands, Mrs. Wm.
Smale.
A joint installation with
Legion officers will be held May
22nd with Blyth tristalling tear din
charge. Attendance prize was
won by Mrs. Howard Smale,
mystery, M-rs. Garnet Allen.
KIPPER EAST INSTITUTE
The Board of DireCtors of
Kippen East Womens Institute
met at the home of the presid-
ent, Mrs. R. Bell. Programmes
were planned and include as well
as a bus trip to Toronto on June
23, Family, night in November, a
Despertn Euchte in January when
all the branches in South Huron
will be invited and the •members
rwill.-pring a friend-to the March
meeting. The roll call contest is
again conducted and each member
has a secret pal.

Legion Hall on May 8th for a
miscellaneous bridal shower for
Kathie Henderson, bride-elect
read the presentation address
and the Misses Pamela and Sheila
Lindsay, nieces of the bride-
elect, presented Kathie with her
gifts.

Ingersoll, Gorrie, St. Marys,
London, Blenheim, Exeter and
Hensall.

40 Years
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Mc-
Llwain were honored on the oc-
casion of their 40th wedding an-
niversary at a dinner at the home
of their son, Jack Mcl_awain -arid
Mrs. MeLlwain on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. McLlwain were
married May 9, 1931 at Wood-
bridge by Rev. Kidd. Their
family includes Helen, Mrs. Ed.
McGrath, Dublin, Jack, Marion,
Mrs. Gord Pullman, Ken and Jim ,
all of Seaforth. A son, Larry,
died several years ago. There
are six grandchildren and a great
grandchild. '
Members of the family pre-
sented them- with a gift certific-
ate and the grandchildren with
individual gifts.
Fellowship
'Group Meets
The Fireside Fellowship
group of First Presbyterian
Church held their May meeting at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clair
Campbell on May 4th.
The program and devotions
were in charge of Mr. and Mrs.
Ted Cosford. We opened with a
hymn after which Mr. Cosford
read the 27th Psalm. The next
hymn was followed with a prayer
by Rev. Mulholland, which closed
this part of the meeting.
The President, Wm, Browri,
presided for the business. It was
decided that we would entertain
the Senior Citizens to a drive
throughout this area on Saturday,
June 5th and they are to meet
at• the church by 1:30 p.m., the
tour to' start '.at 2 o'clock after
which lunch would be served at
the church.
Frank Kling gave a hearty
vote of thank's, to -Mr. and Mrs.
Campbell and all those who took
part.

up the collection, was hostess.
The ladies quilted on two
quilts during the afternoon and
will continue with a pot luck din-
ner Tuesday as well as racking
the bale. ,
SUCCESSFUL SUPPER
The ladies of St. Paul's Ang-
lican Church were pieased with
the success of their sborgasbord
Supper held in the church hall
Saturday which was well
patronized. Mrs. Frank Forrest
and Mrs.. Jean Turner were con-
veners of this project.
SELL COOKIES
The Girl Guides and Brownies
did a rushing business Saturday
selling Girl Guide cookies. The
local association appreciate the
co,fr,operation of the residents in
purchasing_the cookies.

Riley. Past Noble Grands of the
district are planning a motor bus
trip 'to Toronto May I2th. The
annual church service of the
Oddfellows and Rebekah Lodges
will be held in the United Church
May 30th.
RUMMAGE SALE IS SUCCESS
The Hensall Kinette Club re-
port a successful annual Rum-
mage -Sale in 'the Hensall Arena
Auditorium Saturday. Several
cartons of used clothing not .old
were donated to the UnitedtChurch
bale.
'Mr. and Mrs. Don Smile,
Joanne and Brenda, have taken
up residence in their home on
.King. Street, which they recently
purchased from Glenn McKenzie.
