— An active member of the
Blyth community during the
past selveral years, Don
Young, has been moved to
Kitchener by the Bell Tele-
phone Company of Canada and
started work in that city on
March '15th.
Mr. and Mrs. Young ma,ved
to Blyth in 1956 when he was
employed as manager of the
Blyth Municipal Telephone
System, When the system
was joined with Brussels in
1967, he became manager of
the newly formed Maitland
Teleservices and has acted
in that capacity since that
time.
Berl Telephone gained con-
trol of the company in 1969
and Mr. Young was retained
as local manager. He moves
to Kitchener as an engineering
associate and will work in
the Kitchener Branch office.
While a resident of Blyth,
he took a keen interest in the
events of the village. He
represented Blyth on the
Clinton 'District Collegiate
Institute Board and was a
member of the Blyth Public
School Board. He is pres-
ently a member of Blyth Mun-
icipal Council. He joined the
Blyth Fire Department and
was captain until resigning
from the brigade upon re-
ceiving the Kitchener appoint-

THE EXPLORERS
The Explorer Group met at the
church last Tuesday evening with
the president, Miss Cathy Taylor
in charge. All recited the Pur-
pose and Motto and sang the
theme hymn. The Scripture les-
son was read by Miss Sylvia
Wilson, prayer by Miss Cathy
Taylor, minutes were read by
Miss Sylvia Wilson and the roll
call was answered by naming
a Spring bird. Mr. Jeff Chuter
took up the offering and was
dedicated by Miss Anne Marie
Heard, the treasurer report was
given by Miss Tanis Chuter and
the . Study Book was led by
Mrs. Barry Taylor. Recreation
was in charge of Mrs . Eric
Chuter. One visitor was present.
Miss Cathy Taylor closed the
meeting.

A political prisoner, 'standing
in front of a firing squad, was
asked by the officer if he had
any' last words. “yes, I have,"
he answered. "Our premier is
a no-good, low-down scheming
dictator:" The officer gave
him a stern 'look and said:
"Better watch what you say or
you could get into trouble."
The old-timer was being
interviewed on his birthday.
"To what do you attribute the
fact that you have lived to be 89
years of age?" asked the
reporter.
The old man quickly shot
back:' Primarily because I was
born in 1881."

from St. Joseph's Hospital, Din-
don, where she underwent an
emergency appendedtomy.

Exeter, have 'taken up residence
in the Fink Apartments on
Nelson Street.
ENTERTAINS AT HURONVIE'W
Kippen East Womens Instit-
ute entertained patients at Huron-
view to a program of songs and
dances on Wednesday of last 4
week. After a rousing sing-song
by the members, Mrs. Harry
Caldwell and Mrs. Vern Alder-
dice entertained with the Barn
Dance and Schottische. Lirida Bell
played several piano nurA
Mrs. Bell and Mrs. Alderdice
sang, "There's a hole in the
bucket" and Mrs. Ross Broadfoot
played several old time numbers
on the piano. Mrs. Caldwell,
Linda Bell, Mrs. Alderdice and
Mrs. Bell entertained with the
Heel and Toe Polka. Happy
Birthday was sung and those
with a March birthday were pre-
sented with a gift.

The Kinette Club of Hensall
held a dinner meeting at Hotel
Hensall on Wednesday and wel-
comed Kinette Convener of Dist-

ing.
Members were reminded of
the spring shut in visits Sunday,
April 4th and Spring Rummage
Sale, Friday, May 7th in Hensall
Arena.-" Mrs. John Baker intro-
duced the guest speaker Convener
Jean Turnbull of London, who
--outlined for the Kinettes "The
Duties of the Dis trict Kinette
Executive". Mrs. Jack Bettke
Presented the speaker with a
gift for her informative talk.
The club will attend the Kin-
ette Interclub for Zone B in
Goderich and will also travel
to Goderich on April 28th. to
entertain patients at the Psy-
chiatric Hospital.
