The Beavers started fast in the opening stanza and appeared to be on a complete rout as they opened up a quick 9-0 lead, on goals by Weber, Craig and Murray by the 10 minute mark. However Port Elgin knowing they faced elimination fought back and evened the count at 3 - 3 by the end of the first period. Ron Bell, with 2 goals and Al Acorn were the Sunoco marksmen. The second period started almost the same as the first ended, as Bell with his 3 goalsgave Port Elgin a 4 - 3 lead. Seaforth fought back and 2 quick goals by Anstett and Mc- Llwain again gave the Beavers the edge. Then Jim McKinnon evened the count at 5 - 5 at the 12:09 mark.. At this point Seaforth took control and only a minute later Jim Dick gave the Beavers the lead for good and Jack McLlwain added his second goal of the night to give the Beavers a '7 - 5 lead at the end of the period. The third period was all Sea- forth as they added 3 unanswered goals to coast to a 10 - 5 victory. Bill McLaughlin, Bob Beutten- . miller and Jack McLlwain with his third were the Beavers marksmen in this stanza. The Stars of this encounter would go to Jack McLlwain as first star 'for his offensive power and great work defensively in killing penalties. The second star would go to Ron Bell of Port Elgin as he scored 3 of the 5 port Elgin goals and was their only real threat. The third star would go to Ray Anstett for his solid play on defense as he broke up rush after rush to help dishearten and confuse the visitors. A total of 18 penalties were handed out with the Beavers on the receiving ena of eleven of these and the Sunocos picking up seven.
