In future, delegations wishing
to appear before the Huron County
Board of Education will be re-
quired to present a written
request to be received by the
board seven days in advance of
the date of the meeting.
The letter should provide
some indication of the reason for
the delegation's attendance. The
secretary of the board would have
the authority to program the
appearance of delegations so
whenever possible, the board
would receive some back-up
material prior to the meeting
to acquaint members with the
nature of the visit.
In some cases, business of
delegations which is considered

In the in camera" session of
the meeting when the press was
excluded, representatives of the
guidance department in Huron
County schools appeared before
the board to answer questions
and give their impressions of
the aims and objectives of the
guidance course.
No report from this meeting
was available except, in later
open meeting, it was suggested

the county concerning the
coverage in the present accident
insurance plan and a claim by
one student who lost part Of his
hand in art accident at school.
In the latter case, settlement
was made with the insurance
company after long debate when
the insurers claimed the student
had not lost enough of his hand
to collect the insurance.
Some board members said the
presedt student accident insur-
ance "'policy covers only those
things. not covered by OHSIP -
and that even then, coverage is
not too good.
"It's just a joke, really," said
Don McDonald. '
Director of Education John
Cochrane said he was most con-
cerned with the fact that parents
do net have an opportunity to
review the terms and conditions
of the master policy before paying
the insurance, premium and, in
some cases do not know exactly
to what extent studentg are
covered. He added that parents
do not'receive a receipt for the
premium payment and therefore
have no ,,real knowledge of whether
the premium has been received by
the company or not.
