Turning to local hockey, the Seaforth Minor
Hockey squads are continuing to provide good
hockey and have• arranged to have the Detroit
Marquette Bantam hockey team play here against
the local Bantam squad on Saturday, January
23rd. !ids date coincides with the start of
Minor, Hockey Week and has been arranged to
'be part of the Optimist. Winter Carnival Program.
SO "don't forget the boys during this week and
keep in step with Canada - and observe Minor
Hockey Week.
Professional football has just about reached
its climax and with the Super Bowl game this
week end will complete another successful season.
Locally at the bowling alley several high
scores have been recorded as te teams now turn
the corner and start into the Second half of the
bowling season. 'There have been too many games
of 300 to mention them all but we have failed to
record a '400 game yet this season, so come on
gang let's start knocking those pins down.
The curling rink has seen plenty o action
of late and the rinks ar1e full for two g es each
night.
A sad note to sports fans recently was the
sudden death of Boxer Sonny Liston who was
one of the best, and recently of Betsy Clifford's
.announcement that she is planning to retire at
the tender age of 17. We hope Betsy will change
her mind and continue, to represent Canada in
international competition and bring back a champ-
ionship before she giVes up.
