The Citizen, 2015-11-19, Page 10PAGE 10. THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 2015. Tim and the Glory Boys play for Auburn, Blyth crowds This past Sunday morning I had arranged a little surprise for our Huron Chapel congregation. Juno Award-winning recording artists, Tim and The Glory Boys rolled their large tour bus into Auburn and made their way to the Huron Chapel parking lot. Unknown to many of the congregation, the popular bluegrass band would be our music leaders for the morning service. Everybody sang their hearts out as the band led a packed church in some old classic hymns like “Amazing Grace” and the “Solid Rock”, along with some contemporary songs like “10,000 Reasons” and “Cornerstone”. Tim and The Glory Boys were in town to play at Blyth Memorial Hall that evening, an event Huron Chapel had the pleasure to present for the community. The concert, which was promoted as a “Worship Hoedown” did not disappoint the over 350 people in attendance. The band had the audience singing, clapping, laughing and shouting all evening long. 406 Mill Street, Blyth, ON 519-523-4793 www.spaessentialsblyth.com Relax & Unwind While Enhancing The Natural You Gift Certificates Available Online & In-store November 24th ~ 4-8 pm GRAND OPENING OPEN HOUSE As a thank you for your support during our renovations we would like to give back by offering these specials 30%off all Laser Hair Removal & Teeth Whitening Packages 20%off all Retail Products Including Dr. Renaud, Blinc, Renissance Gloves, Allpersan, Gehwol, Smart Klean laundry balls, It Works, Loreal and more. We sure had fun at Hullett Central Public School. Every student had an opportunity to dress up this year if they wanted to because Halloween was Saturday. We had a pumpkin carving contest and as was posted in The Citizen the week after Halloween we had some very well carved Jack-o-lanterns. Lastly, we had a school dance for all of our students groups. Students have been enjoying our warm and sunny fall days. Kindergarten students are enjoying their outdoor learning centres with many fun fall activities. Our Junior and Intermediate students are using our gaga ball courts and soccer fields to their fullest potential. Primary students are busy in our nature area and are putting on shows at our outdoor music and drama area. The sandboxes are sites of many road and major construction projects. The kitchen has been busy cooking up tasty creations. The soccer field, ball diamond and swings are busy with lots of activity. Remembrance Day had our Grade 6 students present a dramatic story telling of the story “Bear at War.” Abby Bos shared her winning poem from the Royal Canadian Legion Remembrance Day poem contest last year. Students in the school have completed this year’s projects for the competitions, hopefully next year there will be more students to share their winning poems and essays with us at our Remembrance Day service. Our Grade 7 and 8 students participated in the Legion Service in Blyth. Kennedy Huether, Ella Sawchuk, and Quaid Kerr presented their award-winning poems and essay from the Royal Canadian Legion’s Remembrance Day contest last year. Hailey Govier presented the poem, “In Flanders Fields.” We also had students involved in Cadets as well as other organizations that participated in area services in Seaforth and Clinton. For the rest of the month, our Junior Volleyball teams are getting practised up for their tournament. Practices are underway for our Christmas concert planned for Dec. 9. We are going to have one concert (full dress) in the afternoon and then one at night. It is our hope we can spread the crowd out a bit so that we are not over capacity at the night show. Please attend the afternoon concert if you are able to. In the concert will be both bands and students from Kindergarten to Grade 3. Students at Hullett are donating to the Huron County Christmas Bureau. Our collection runs Nov. 23-27. Students, when you are picking that special gift for the bureau, we encourage you to pick something you would like, that way, you know the child getting your present that is the same age as you will like the present too. This way the bureau will have quite a variety of items from Hullett students. If you bring one gift item in for the collection that week then you can wear your Christmas pyjamas on Friday, Nov. 27. All items will be gathered up Nov. 30 and delivered to the Christmas Bureau. Some helper elves will be picked to deliver the items to the bureau. That is all for this report, stay tuned next month to hear all about our Christmas activities. 44229 Amberley Road west of Molesworth 519-291-4643 www.old86famersmarket.com Monday - Saturday 9 am - 6 pm Sunday 10 am - 5 pm Christmas in the Country November 21 & 22 20%off Home & Garden and Christmas Décor Fresh cedar roping, wreaths and Christmas patio pots Students aid Christmas Bureau Send a one year subscription for The Citizen to: Name . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
