The harvest
Melville Presbyterian Church in Brussels held its annual Harvest Supper on Sunday night,
welcoming members of the community and beyond to the Brussels, Morris and Grey
Community Centre for a home-cooked dinner. Right before the doors opened, however, a
dedicated group of volunteers filled a number of take-out containers with meals to be delivered
to Huronlea Home for the Aged, as well as several other locations throughout the village.

By Jo-Ann McDonald
The Thursday night darts started
this past week after a summer
vacation. The night is organized by
Comrade Sandra Josling and play
begins at 8 p.m.
The first night had just a very
small group enjoying the play.
Winners were: first, Roger
McHardy; second, Marlene
Rutledge; high, Jim Brown, 140 and
Wayne Smith, 32. Darts is every
week and teams are drawn up every
week upon arrival.
The Friday night supper had a
small crowd enjoying the chicken
breast dinner. This week will be
roast beef.
A team of four comrades played at
zone crib on Saturday. The foursome
of Bob Richardson, Eric Ross, Lloyd
Glanville and Barry O’Krafta went
to Mitchell to participate. They did
well and finished seventh, so they
will move onto district play
in January.

Market looks to
2016 season
with new ideas
The Brussels Farmers’ Market
held its year-end potluck for 2015
vendors after its first year operating
without Trillium Grant funds.
Feedback questionnaires from the
vendors and customers were mostly
positive. They included ideas for the
board to implement in 2016.
Music under the tent was also well
attended and enjoyed by all and the
barbecue was well attended and
profitable.
The 2016 season will run from
May 20 to October 7 at the same
time 2 to 6 p.m. every Friday, and at
the same location as in 2015. Vendor
fees will also remain the same.
The market will also continue to
utilize student volunteers for
approximately two hours every
Friday.
For more information about the
market contact richmonds@

Hoover recognized
for school bus work
Another sunny day in November,
what a gift! It’s no wonder weather
is the most talked about subject in
our land. So enjoy each one as a gift.
Miss Korlee Campbell was
introduced to the congregation and
visitors at the United Church on
Sunday. Looking very sweet and
social, she was quite happy to let
Rev. Clark bless her wee head with
water as parents Nic and Danielle
looked on. Welcome Korlee.
Sometimes when people do the
same job for a long time, it can go
almost unnoticed. Not so for Murray
Hoover. For all of Ontario, three
businesses look after all the school
busing needs for the province. At
their recent meeting at the Blue
Mountain Resort, Murray was
chauffeured from Brussels as a guest
of honour. He was one of three bus
drivers being recognized for their
dedication and commitment as
keepers of our kids’ safety. Good for
you Murray and thanks to your boss
for the nomination.
