Deer season started
The end of October finished with
lots of rain to give the farmers a bit
of a break, but the start of November
has begun with some great weather.
The hunters are out in full force and
gun shots can be heard when
outside. The deer have been on the
move for a couple of weeks as their
hiding places in the corn are
removed. Keep your eyes open and
be prepared to slow down!
Halloween is over for another year
and fewer children came to the door
again. It seems every year there are
fewer children out. The costumes
were really cute, including Care
Bears, skeletons, bumblebees,
cowboys, a duck and a popular
children’s race car driver.
A welcome to Bonnie Taylor, who
is now at Huronlea. We hope she is
renewing old friendships with the
Brussels folks. Dianne Engel is also
making her home at Huronlea and
we hope she is coping with her new
surroundings.
Brussels was well represented at
the Royal Alexandra Theatre one
day last week. A group of 21 ladies
travelled to Toronto to see a showing
of the musical Kinky Boots. They
report it was excellent. Not to give
away the whole show but “Charlie”
hooks up with a transgendered lady
friend to save the family’s aging
shoe factory. Music, singing,
dancing and laughs abound. The
group reported a wonderful time.
Taking part in the excursion
included organizer Jean Davidson
with friends Liz Sholdice, Janet
Haetel, Sue Overholt, Nora
Stephenson, Jean Bridge, Joan
Bernard, Marie McCutcheon, Betty
Campbell, Betty Cardiff, Audrey
Cardiff, Bev Palmer, Rene
Richmond, Jane Hall, Alice Marks,
Sandra Cable, Sandra Machan, Joan
Jacobs, Hope Lowe, Cora Alcock
and Leona Armstrong. Can you
imagine that group of ladies on the
bus ride? Entertainment all by itself!
Our condolences to the Hoegy
family on the passing of Lavern
Hoegy, formerly of Brodhagen, and
recently of Huronlea. He will be
missed by his wife Greta and
children Brenda, Wayne, Yvonne,
Maureen, Doug and Lyle and their
families. Our sympathies to all.
Celebrating birthdays this past
week include Brent Alexander,
MacKenzie McGavin, Janine
Knight, Davis Steffler, Judy Lee,
Marvin Bachert, Stephen Burke,
John Gaunt, Peggy Humphries,
Garret Mader, Johnny Ryan, Bruce
Blake, Alexis Terpstra, Lila Olson,
Darryl Hoegy and Chris Stevenson.
