HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Citizen, 2015-10-29, Page 34A small turnout of Walkerburn
Club members met at the
home of Ila Cunningham on Sept.
21.
Vera Penfound was president of
the month and opened with readings,
“Green Things” and “Points to
Ponder”, followed by prayer and
The Lord’s Prayer.
Ila Cunningham gave the
treasurer’s report. It was moved that
the group make donations to the
Clinton, Goderich, Seaforth and
Wingham hospitals. Roll call was
answered by something you did over
the summer, plus dues.
Maggie Treanor had a very
interesting program, including a
mixed-up fruits and vegetable
contest.
The next meeting is Oct. 19 at the
home of Eileen McClinchey with
Mag as president of the month. The
program will be handled by
Christena and Eileen will serve
lunch.
Ila served a delicious lunch of
angel cake, strawberries and whip
cream.
Fall is my favourite time of year. I
love the weather, the colours, the
smell of wood burning fireplaces in
the air and the Auburn Village
Pumpkin Party.
Once again, kids, parents, and
grandparents came together last
Saturday and carved pumpkins to
put on display. The Auburn
Horticultural Society always
does a great job hosting this
event for the people in Auburn and
area.
The Wawanosh 4-H Club was
back helping with crafts, cupcake
decorating and playing games with
the kids.
It is always good to come together
as a village and chat with people
you know and to meet some people
you don’t around the holidays,
whatever the occasion may be.

Getting in the spirit
The Auburn Horticultural Society worked hard again to pull
together the Auburn village pumpkin party on the weekend.
Above, Emily Datema of Auburn spent her time playing with
some Lego and ‘looking’ like a pumpkin, while below, Bailey
Hamp, also of Auburn, decided she would rather put her
time into making a jack-o-lantern. (Mark Royall photos)
