HELEN JANE (ROZELL)
GARNET
Helen Jane (Rozell) Garnet of
Blyth and formerly of Clinton and
St. Marys passed away at Huronlea
Home for the Aged, Brussels on
Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015. She was
in her 95th year.
Helen was the beloved wife of the
late Charles William Garnet (1977)
and the loving mother of Brian and
Sandy Garnet, Blyth and the late
Charles Jr. (2007) and Cheryl
Garnet, Stratford. She was the
cherished grandmother of Jerry,
Steven and Kelly and step-
grandmother of Jason, Greg and
Sean. Helen was the great-
grandmother of Lyric, Skye, Coda,
Braydon, Delena, Lorelei, Myelle,
Uriah, Thalia and Isabelle. She will
also be missed by many nieces and
nephews, including her special niece
Sherry Stanley. Helen was
predeceased by her parents Ernest
and Sarah Rozell, brother Doug
Rozell, sister Ruth and brother-in-
law Bill Jenkins.
Friends and family were invited to
a celebration of life service held at
the Huron Chapel in Auburn on
Friday, Oct. 23 with visitation two
hours prior to the service. Interment
was in Clinton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, consider
making a memorial donation to the
Alzheimer Society of Huron.
Arrangements were entrusted to the

ROSS NICHOL
Ross Nichol of RR 4, Brussels,
passed away peacefully surrounded
by family on Wednesday, Oct. 21,
2015 at Seaforth Community
Hospital. Born in Morris Township
on Sept. 29, 1923, Ross was in his
93rd year.
Ross was the beloved husband for
33 years to the late Della Thynne,
and for 27 years to the late Barbara
Anne Warrington. He was the dear
father of Margaret and Ian Harris,
Shelburne; Hugh and Susan Nichol,
Kincardine; Paul and Kathy Nichol,
Brussels; Ron and Gayle Prout,
Brussels and Janet Prout and Pete
Tuckey, Exeter and the loving
grandfather of Joanna, Daniel and
Christina, Carolyn and Jonathan,
Stefan, Terry and Mariel, Cody,
Josh, Megan, Annie and Robert,
Dylan, Ethan and Seth. Ross was
predeceased by his sister Thelma
and his adopted sister Adah.
Friends were received by the
family on Oct. 24 and again one hour
prior to the funeral service which
was conducted at the Schimanski
Family Funeral Home, Brussels on
Sunday, Oct. 25. Don Vair officiated.
Remembrances of Ross were given
by Gayle and Kathy, his niece Vonne
Brister, his grandson Seth and his
friend Roger Richards.
Cremation followed with his
remains to be interred at Brussels
Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations to the Seaforth
Community Hospital Foundation

ALMA WATSON
Alma Loreene (Galbraith) Watson
of Brussels, passed away peacefully
surrounded by family on Tuesday,
Oct. 20, 2015 at Huronlea Home for
the Aged, Brussels. Born in Howick
Township on Dec. 13, 1918, Alma
was in her 97th year.
Alma was the beloved wife of the
late Carson Watson (Jan. 9, 2001)
and will be sadly missed by her
children Ralph and Betty Watson,
Brussels; John and Wendy Watson,
Kitchener and Mary and Vern Heise,
Listowel. Alma was also loved by
her seven grandchildren, 13 great-
grandchildren, the Graber
grandchildren and her brother-in-law
Moe Burwell of Colorado. She was
predeceased by her brothers
Howard, Ward and Ken and sisters
Nell and Geane.
Cremation took place with
interment in Wroxeter Cemetery.
A celebration of Alma’s life was
conducted at Brussels United
Church on Monday, Oct. 26. Rev.
Gary Clark and Pastor Sandra Cable
officiated. Remembrances of Alma
were given by her granddaughter
Janice Heise-Clarkson, her
daughter-in-law Wendy Watson and
her great-granddaughter Lindsay
Watson with scriptures read by
grandsons Matthew Watson, Craig
Heise and Mike Watson.
As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations to Brussels
United Church or the Huron-Perth
Children’s Aid Society would be

LEONARD JAMES PALMER
Leonard Palmer, formerly of RR
5, Wingham, passed away at
Derbeckers Heritage House, St.
Jacobs, on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015.
He was 86.
Leonard was the beloved husband
of the late Elsie Jacobsen, who
predeceased him in 2005 and the
loving father of Christopher and
Donna Palmer, RR 5, Wingham;
Stephanie and Barry Charlton,
Kitchener; Matthew and Allison
Palmer, London and Elizabeth and
Paul Drennan, Waterloo. He will be
lovingly remembered by
grandchildren Amanda, Michael,
Kristen, Luke, Zach, Ryan,
Maddison, McKenzie and
Corinthian. Leonard is also survived
by his sister Mildred Bone. He was
predeceased by his sisters Doris, Ivy,
Margaret, Lily and Nora and his
brother Frank.
A private family service was held
at the McBurney Funeral Home
Chapel, Wingham. Memorial
donations to the Parkinson Society
Canada would be appreciated as
expressions of sympathy.

RUTH SCHADE
Ruth Alma (nee Gibson) Schade
of Seaforth, formerly of Walton
passed away suddenly at
Maplewood Manor Retirement
Home in Seaforth on Tuesday, Oct.
20, 2015. She was in her 84th year.
Ruth was the beloved wife of the
late Kenneth Elgin Schade
(September 2011) and the loving
mother of Jane Hasty (Brock),
Port Albert and Nancy Denham
(Wayne), Seaforth. She was the
cherished grandma of Jacquelyn
and Jeffery Denham and special
grandma of Denise Kreutzwiser
and Anita Roston and the dear
sister of Jack Gibson (Marion),
Listowel; Ross Gibson (Sylvia),
Wingham and sister-in-law of
Marlene Gibson, Point Clark and
Muriel Maier, Grand Bend. Ruth
will also be missed by many
nieces, nephews and friends.
Ruth was predeceased by her
parents Arnold and Elsie (nee
Grosz) Gibson, brothers Jim and
Bill Gibson, brother-in-law
Howard Maier and nephew Greg
Gibson.
Visitation was held at
McGlynn Family Funeral Home,
Seaforth on Friday, Oct. 23. The
funeral service was held
Saturday, Oct. 24. Rev. Mary
Fletcher officiated. The
pallbearers were Rob Elson,
Brendan Smyth, David and Mark
Gibson, Jim McNichol and
Bryan Vincent. A reception

Township of North Huron
Fall Yard Waste Collection
Material should be placed at the curb in Paper Organic Yard Waste Bags, or
open containers only (not over 44 pounds in weight), before 7 a.m. for
collection. Plastic Bags are not acceptable for yard waste and will
not be picked up. The Township encourages grass clippings to be left on
your lawn providing valuable moisture and nutrients to your lawn.
Residents should not include tree branches, which are greater
than 4” in diameter. Use large branches for firewood. Use strong
twine to bundle tree or shrub branches. Bundles must not be
more than 5 feet long, no more than 44 pounds in weight and not
more than one foot in diameter.
Tree limbs will be picked up separate from the leaf collection.
Leaves can be mulched and left on your lawn (simply by running your lawn mower over them two or three
times) – they can be added in thin layers to your composting bin, dug directly into the garden, or
composted in a separate bin or pile.
Yard waste does not include sod, soil, lumber, tree stumps or stones and must be free of metal, food
wastes and garbage. The Township will not pickup loose branches.
2015 Fall yard waste collection starts Monday, October 5th and runs according to the
following schedule:
Monday, October 5 Monday, October 19
Monday, November 2 Tuesday, November 9 Final Pickup
Any yard waste left at the curb after the Final pickup date will be subject to a
minimum charge of $50.00 for pickup.
Between the Township’s yard waste collection dates, yard waste and
grass clippings can currently be taken to any North Huron Landfill location.
Plastic Bags are not acceptable for yard waste and will not be
collected.
Space provided through a partnership between
Industry and Ontario Municipalities to support waste diversion programs.
