The scripture 1 Corinthians: 1-16 was read with each member taking part. The topic was taken from a booklet called, “A Patchwork Quilt”. The stories were read by Elaine Armstrong and Margaret McInroy. The first story was written by Ethel Baker from Molesworth. It was called “The Country Parish”. The next story was a poem, “Life is Like a Patchwork Quilt”, written by Audrey Adair from Molesworth. Theresa McDonald, pastor of Cranbrook and Monkton wrote the next story, “One Stitch at a Time”. A poem “By God’s Hands We Are All Fed” written by Lynn Johnson of Molesworth was read next. “Grandma’s Sampler Quilt” written by Betty Mitchell from Molesworth Church was read next. A poem, “Sewing the Pattern”, written by Ruby Naylor from Monkton was read. The hymn, “The Fruit of the Spirit” was sung and Margaret McInroy led in prayer. The Mizpah Benediction was repeated in unison to close this part of the meeting. Elaine Armstrong presided over the business. The minutes of the June meeting were read by the secretary, Dona Knight, moved by Alice Marks, seconded by Margaret Siertsema that the minutes be adopted as read. The correspondence included an invitation to the Fall Rally to be held in Kincardine on Monday, Oct. 5. A thank you was read from the family of Faye Fear and Anna Cunningham for the lunch served following their funeral services. The Guild treasurer’s report was given by Alice Marks and the WMS treasurer’s report was given by Leona Armstrong. A thank you will be sent to Sheila Prescott for the tablecloths she donated to the church. There was a discussion about the coffee time after church and it was decided that members should keep it simple. It was suggested that a package of store- bought cookies would be all they need. The roll call was answered with everyone telling a memory of growing up in the church. The next meeting was scheduled for Oct. 20 with Dona Knight and Leona Armstrong in charge of the devotions. Linda Garland moved to adjourn the meeting and a lovely lunch was served by Elaine Armstrong and Margaret McInroy.
