Two filthy rooms!
(Arthur Pink)
“And when the Spirit comes, He will convict the world of sin, and of God’s
righteousness, and of the coming judgment.” John 16:8
One of the principle things which distinguishes a regenerate person from an
unregenerate one, may be likened unto two filthy rooms.
In one room, the blinds are raised and the sunlight streams in, exposing the filth
all around.
In the other room, the blinds are lowered, and one walking through the room
would be unable to discern its real condition.
Thus it is in the case of one who has been renewed by the Spirit: his eyes have
been opened to see the awful filth which lurks in every corner of his heart.
But in the case of the unregenerate, though they have occasional twinges of
conscience when they act wrongfully, they are very largely ignorant of the awful
fact that they are a complete mass of corruption in the pure eyes of the thrice holy
God.

Rental hours down at arena
Minor sports in North Huron are
on the decline according to council
members and staff, and those
dwindling numbers are starting to
affect the operations of local
recreational sites.
During North Huron Council’s
Oct. 5 meeting, Director of
Recreation and Facilities Pat
Newson reported local minor sports
associations weren’t using as much
ice time at local arenas, leaving an
expected shortfall for the recreation
and facilities budget.
As part of Newson’s report she
reported that the estimated 2015
income from ice rental was
$121,000, but that the Blyth
Brussels Minor Hockey Association
(BBMHA) and the Blyth Skating
Club both cut their hours from 24.75
to 19.5 per week and from 5.5 to 2.5
per week respectively. This is going
to cause a reduction in the potential
income by $11,000.
Deputy-Mayor James Campbell
said that he was aware that Wingham
Minor Hockey had been playing
some of their games outside the
municipality.
“Can we talk to Wingham Minor
Hockey to have them move some of
their ice use?” Campbell asked. “We
have a lot of teams going to Belmore
and not using our own facilities here
to do it. If we have the space in
Blyth, then why aren’t those teams
going there?”
Newson said the answer was
complicated, but basically boiled
down to when ice is available. She
said Wingham wanted certain slots
and those slots likely wouldn’t be
available in Blyth. Her department
had also been working with minor
hockey groups to increase local
usage, but she said it’s not their
decision.
“We can’t force Wingham to use
Blyth ice the same way we can’t
