A great few days
The Huron County Ploughing Match took over Ashfield-
Colborne-Wawanosh for two days last week, specifically
the Hayden family farm, to bring the county a great
spectacle of rural living and competition. Clockwise, from
top left: While most ploughing is now done with machinery,
some at this year’s match opted to try things out the old-
fashioned way, with real horsepower, like Scott Thomas of
Elmwood; Emily Terpstra, left, was crowned the match’s
Princess by outgoing Princess Natalie Fear; Kate Higgins
was named Queen of the Furrow at Friday night’s awards
banquet; The Queen of the Furrow contestants took their
