Upon winning the gold medal at qualifiers, the Marlins, featuring members from all across Southwestern Ontario including Brussels, were given a bye in play until Saturday at 7:30 a.m., when they first met a team from Stittsville. Both teams came out with bats blazing however, the Marlins defeated the Stittsville 46ers moving forward in the A division. The next game brought a nail-biter against the Mississauga Tigers. The teams seemed very well matched both offensively and defensively. At the end of seven innings the score was 1-1 and had to go into extra innings using the international tie- breaking rule where the Marlins again prevailed with a score of 4-3. Next, the sun was setting and LaSalle Athletics came to the field with a vengeance from qualifiers. Unfortunately the Marlins were handed their first loss with a score of 7-4. On Sunday afternoon, only three teams remained as the girls from Palmerston battled the Tigers again, winning 4-3 and advancing to the gold medal game. LaSalle brought on their A game against the Marlins. The game ended in a very close score of 2-1 for LaSalle. The Palmerston Marlins were proud to bring home the silver medal for their community.
