Wawanosh church service held
On Sunday, Aug. 2 the guest
minister at Knox United Church,
Belgrave was Elly Dow from
Chalmers Presbyterian Church in
Whitechurch. The guest pianist was
Winona Thompson. Jim Taylor sang
a solo. Ivan Dow read scripture from
Exodus 16: 2-4, 9-15 from the Good
News Bible and from John 6: 24-35
- new revised standard version.
The message was entitled, Food
Staples – Ours or God’s”. Nancy
Jardin read the Minute for Mission –
“Jane Finch Community Ministry”.
The community extends sincere
sympathy to Tineke Heatherington
and families in the loss of her
husband Gord who passed away at
Wingham and District Hospital on
July 29.
Vacation Bible School (Son Force
Kids Adventure) will be held at
Knox United Church on Aug. 17-21,
9 a.m. to noon for children aged four
to 12. To volunteer or for more
information call Kim Walker 519-
357-3237.
The Campbell family picnic was
held on Sunday, Aug. 9 at the
Belgrave pavilion. It was hosted by
Mike and Patty Galbraith and John
and Gayle Galbraith. Under sunny
skies and a warm summer day, John
Galbraith welcomed everyone. After
Harold Jardin said Grace, all
enjoyed a bountiful potluck dinner.
The children enjoyed the playground
equipment. Many games and sports
were conducted for the young and
the young at heart. Visiting and
looking at photos and photo albums
were enjoyed.
Gordon Campbell thanked the
Galbraiths. An enjoyable day was
brought to a close by hugs and
wishes for a safe trip home.
Smiles all around
The Belgrave Summer Festival was held on Aug. 1 and was
filled with smiles just like Skylar Moffat, shown above.
Moffat, from Belgrave, attended the event and had her face
painted by Cat Cabajar, not shown, of the Painted Cat
studio from Sarnia. (Denny Scott photo)
Worshipping outdoors
Student Minister Brian Hymers led the Knox United Church
outdoor church service on Sunday, which was held at the
Wawanosh Nature Centre near Westfield. Dozens attended
the sunny service. (Jim Brown photo)
