PLAETZER. Lawrence Plaetzer left
this world – in his 88th year – on
June 3, 2015. It was of great comfort
to us to have him in his own home,
surrounded by loved ones during his
passage to the next phase of his
existence. The incredible support of
friends, neighbours and relatives was
and will continue to be invaluable to
us all. We were continuously met
with kind and caring aid, through
various means, such as provision of
food when we had no time or
motivation to cook for the family
that was gathering. Supporting us
and honouring our beloved husband,
father and grandfather, through
several ways: Presence at the
visitation and/or funeral, words of
sympathy in personal encounters,
cards, flowers and donations. We
would also like to provide special
acknowledgement to the following
agencies: Community Care Access
Centre, Willow HomeCare, St.
Elizabeth, Lions Clubs (Auburn and
Blyth), staff from the Clinton and
London Hospitals, Dr, Hay, Dr.
Sumar and One Care. Without their
collective involvement, caring for
Lawrence at home may not have
been possible and for this we give
our sincere gratitude. We humbly
appreciate all the blessings we have
received. You have all made a
difference. – Jean and family. 26-1

TEN PAS, Nicholas Charles Lang.
Our youngest grandson, 2000 -
2015. Thank you to all who have
helped us through this time of
sadness with cards, calls, sidewalk
hugs, love and prayers and
strawberry pie, etc. Love you all.
God bless you. – Henk and Agnes

At its June 15 meeting, Central
Huron Council authorized the
Clinton Community Park Steering
Committee to be an official
committee of council.
The group of parents had spoke
to council earlier in the month,
asking for council’s support in the
development of a new skateboard
park in Clinton. At the June 2
meeting, council was supportive of
the project, but instructed the
group to come back with a
business plan when one had been
prepared.
Deputy-Mayor Dave Jewitt and
Councillor Genny Smith have been
appointed as council representatives
on the committee.
***
The Sloman School on Wheels
has engaged the services of Kim
Leach, the newly-hired economic
development officer hired by
Central Huron and Bluewater.
The recommendation was made at
Central Huron Council’s June 8
committee of the whole meeting,
but was confirmed at council’s June
15 meeting.
The plan is to engage Leach in
assisting those involved with the
School on Wheels with a plan to
integrate the school with other
municipal activities and to
eventually create a self-sustaining
model for the heritage site.
***
Council provided no objections to
The Ashwood Bourbon Bar’s
application for the addition of an
outdoor patio to its existing liquor
licence.
The bar, which is just north of
Bayfield, opened in late May.
Stating no municipal objections,
Central Huron endorsed the notice
of application.
***
Council has set Tuesday, July 7 as
the date for Central Huron’s third
annual Mayor’s Mingle, which will
take place at the Central Huron
Community Complex.
The event, which has historically
included a barbecue dinner, as well
as refreshments, was designed as an
informal gathering for residents to
get to know their mayor and
councillors better in a relaxed
setting.
Last year’s event featured a
presentation by a representative of
the Nuclear Waste Manage-
ment Organization (NWMO) and
an awards presentation for
Londesborough’s Will and Claire
Fleming, who cycled across
Canada, raising tens of thousands of
dollars for Canadian Tire’s
Jumpstart charity along the way.
