The Blyth Lions Club played its part earlier this month as the Dave Mounsey Memorial Fund
held its sixth annual Run Around The Square in Goderich. The Lions donated $200 to the
event, which went towards the approximately $10,000 that was raised by the charity, which is
named for fallen Blyth OPP officer and volunteer firefighter Dave Mounsey. The charity places
defibrillators in public buildings throughout Huron County and beyond. Its first donation went
to Memorial Hall in Blyth and was placed in Mounsey’s name. Lions President Mary Lou
Stewart, left, presented Jessica Mann from the Run, right, with the cheque at last week’s

NH doesn’t tender job, negotiates
Stapleton Interiors will handle the
renovation of the North Huron
Children’s Centre flooring which
will involve handling the hazardous
material asbestos, said North Huron
Director of Recreation and Facilities
Pat Newson.
At Newson’s request, which was
presented at a council meeting last
month, council employed the
negotiated method instead of
its typical tendering process to
select Stapleton’s for the
project.
Councillor Bill Knott asked why
other vendors weren’t contacted and
was told by Newson that one other
company with the necessary
equipment and experience had been
contacted, however they weren’t
able to handle the job.
“So we haven’t looked at any
other suppliers?” Knott asked.
Newson said the request she was
making precluded seeking other
vendors.
The motion to have Stapletons
Interiors handle the issue was passed
with Knott voting against the
motion.

North Huron Township Council
instituted a price increase for child
care fees at the North Huron
Daycare in Wingham.
The increase will see infant,
toddler and pre-school rates increase
50 cents while Before and After
school programs will increase 25
cents.
Councillor Trevor Seip asked if
the increase was weighed against
other providers of the same service
and Deputy-Clerk Kathy Adams
assured him it was.
“We review other centres to make
sure the costs are in line,” she said.

The Fire Department of North
Huron has had a significantly
reduced call volume since the start
of 2015, compared to the same
period last year.
Fire Chief David Sparling
explained, at the end of January last
year, the department had fielded 25
calls whereas, by mid-April this
year, the department had fielded 51
calls.
“Generally speaking, we’ve
returned to a more traditional call
volume,” Sparling said.

To eat to the glory of God
(J.R.Miller)
“Whether therefore you eat or drink, or whatever you do--do all to the glory of
God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
Nothing in life is left out -- “whatever you do.” It extends even to eating and
drinking. We are to do all things to the glory of God. This means that we must do
everything in a way that will please Him.
To eat to the glory of God is to recognize Him as the Giver of our daily bread, to
seek His blessing on it, to eat according to the divine laws, eating to be ready for
the best service, and then to use all our strength in doing the work which God gives
us to do.
One who eats self-indulgently or gluttonously, or who eats food that is injurious
to his health, or who does not use the strength he derives from his food in living
obediently -- is not glorifying God. In all our life, in everything we do, we are to
think of what will honour God.
