‘Angels’ presented at Knox United on Sunday night
Debbie Hopper greeted
worshippers and handed out the
service of worship at Knox United
Church on Sunday, April 19. Student
Minister Brian Hymers welcomed
the congregation and went over the
announcements and the introit was
sung by the choir. Brian lit the Christ
candle. The call to worship was read
responsively and the morning prayer
and the prayer of confession in
unison. The opening hymn was “All
Hail the Power”. The senior choir
sang, “Santo, Santo, Santo”
accompanied by Ann Clark on the
piano. “Shout for Joy” was the
children’s hymn accompanied by
Ann Clark at the organ, Lila Procter
with the guitar and Mackenzie
Wightman at the piano.
The children gathered in the front
pew for story time with Brian. Being
a child of God allows us to have an
imagination and explore things. He
showed the children musical toys
which they could play and be a
member of the band. They could
explore sports playing hockey. A
young man from Lucknow had a
dream and a vision and he scored the
most famous goal in history.
Listowel also had a young man who
pursued his dream golfing. God
allowed them to be a child through
their adult life. God allows all of us
to be like children and to explore and
develop our imagination.
After the Lord’s Prayer, the
children adjourned to Sunday
school. The congregation listened to
the word of God as Larry and Barb
Harper read scripture from Acts 3:
12-19. Psalm 4 was read
responsively with the congregation
as well as Luke 24: 35-48. Brian
reflected on Luke who was a gentile
and a doctor and Greek. Luke wrote
solely on the life of Jesus.
He was a close friend with Paul
and travelled with him spreading the
good news of Jesus. Luke wrote
Acts. Luke’s writings were
translated for us to easily
understand.
We all doubt ourselves and the
unknown. It is our faith that tells us
the real story of resurrection. The
words that we read in Luke and Acts
give us comfort. We are here to
spread the good news of Jesus and
are all children of God. He claimed
us before our birth and claims us at
our time of death. Proof is
what we will get when Jesus meets
us.
After the singing of the hymn of
response, “O’ For a Thousand
Tongues”, Nancy Jardin reported on
the minute for missions. Larry
Harper and Ken Procter took up the
offering which was dedicated. The
closing hymn, “Just As I Am” and
“Go Now in Peace” concluded the
morning worship service. Brian
extinguished the Christ candle - end
of worship - the beginning of
service.
The successful Swiss Chalet
supper resulted in a profit of
$1,617.85 for the work of the
church.

is a community conflict resolution
event at Blyth United Church. It is
sponsored by Lucknow and area
Quaker Worship Group, Blyth
United Church, Blyth Christian
Reformed Church and Living Water

“Angels” was presented by Knox
United Senior Choir on Sunday,
April 19 at 7 p.m. Soloist Kendall
Jardin inspired the crowd by singing,
“Hey, Do You Know Me?” and
accompanied herself on an
electronic keyboard.
Brian, the student minister
welcomed everyone and gave an
opening prayer. Brian and Jackie
Hymers delighted everyone by
singing “Angels Among Us”
accompanied by Ann Clark. We
heard through readings and songs
about God’s Angels and how He
uses them in His love for us. The
narrators were Ron Taylor and
Nancy Folkard.
Everyone enjoyed the Chime-In
Choir, directed by Ann. Many
selections were sung by the senior
choir, as well as everyone joining in
to sing accompanied by Ann Clark at
the piano and Lila Procter with her
guitar. Thank you to all who helped
with “Angels” by donating their time
and talents.
Donations from the evening will
go towards Brian’s education fund.
Closing and benediction and “Go
Now in Peace” was sung and
everyone enjoyed “angel food”
refreshments and a time of
fellowship in the lower hall.

another cool, wet, windy day.

A good job as usual by Judy,

encourage all Comrades to attend.
