Happy birthday to Lauren
Wharton who celebrates March 6;
Barry MacDonald, March 8 and
Grace McNichol, March 9.
Well maybe spring is going to
come after all. On Monday the
temperature went up to -3°C
which is really balmy for us this
year.
The sun is shining and everything
looks warm if you are looking out
from inside.

Playing the physical game
The Blyth Brussels Midget AE Crusaders were in action on both Saturday and Sunday as they
began their Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) semi-final series with the Tweed
Hawks. The Crusaders took Saturday’s game by a score of 6-3 and Sunday’s in a 4-0 shutout.
They are on the road this weekend with hopes of closing the series out and advancing to the
OMHA finals. Here, Jeremy Grisdale, left, put his physicality to use in taking one of the Hawks
off of the puck as his team cruised to a 6-3 victory in Saturday’s game one. (Jasmine deBoer photo)

This Sunday was Holy Humour
Sunday. First joke of the morning
was, “This year for Lent I’m giving
up snow.” David asked everyone to
greet one another. Floyd Herman
read a humourous story about a
choir. Liz Herman, Laura and
Harrison Bedard took part in the
Lent experience, which was the
colour yellow. Harrison assisted
Rev. Gary Clark by painting yellow
on the happy face while Rev. Clark
painted yellow on the rainbow on the
chart at the front.
The centring music, “My Love
Colours Outside the Lines” was
sung. The prayer of approach was
said responsively with the sign
language in the response. The music,
“Me Alone” was sung.
The children were asked to come
to the front for their story time. Rev.
Clark explained to the children of
how David was chosen to be the
future king. Rev. Clark asked the
children what they would look for in
finding a new king. Many answers,
powerful, rich, big, rude, fancy
clothes and sharing. We watched a
short video, the story of a boy named
David. It was about how Samuel
went to Jesse and interviewed
Jesse’s seven sons and finally asked
if there were any more. David, the
youngest, was watching the sheep.
Samuel asked to see David and
David was chosen to be the future
king. Rev. Clark asked the children
why Joseph and Mary took Jesus
A bowl which will soon be broken!
(Thomas Watson,“The Lord’s Prayer”)
“What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes
away!” James 4:14
Time passes on apace! Our time is very short and uncertain. It will not be long,
“before the silver cord of life snaps and the golden bowl is broken.” The skull
wherein the brains are enclosed, is a bowl which will soon be broken!
Our soul is in the body, as the bird in the shell, which soon breaks--and the bird
flies out. The shell of the body is soon broken--and the soul flies into eternity! We
know not whether we shall live another day. Before we hear another sermon-bell
ring, our death-bell may ring. Our life runs as a swift stream--into the ocean of
eternity.
Brethren, if our time is so short and transient--if the candle of life is so soon
consumed, or perhaps blown out by an unexpectant death--how should we use all
our strength, that we may obtain the kingdom of glory! If time is so short, why do
we waste it on trivial things--and neglect the “one thing needful?” A man who has
a great work to be done, and but one day for doing it, needs to work hard. We have
a great work to do, we are striving for an eternal glorious kingdom, and alas! we
are not certain of one day to work in!
“So teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom!”
