Continued from page 7 report a good time and returned home to celebrate Christmas with the rest of the McGavin families on Dec. 29. A special visitor for the Knight family for Christmas and New Year’s was Dr. Janine Knight. She was able to come home from New Brunswick for a week’s visit with her family. She enjoyed a great Christmas and a nice family New Year’s dinner with dad Brad and Christine, Steve and Marni and Grandpa Jack Knight. Neil McDonald had a good stay while in Ontario. He was home for the funeral of old family friend Ron Bennett and had a chance to visit with many of the old family friends. He had a chance to visit with some of the Stevens relatives at Aunt Marg’s on Sunday before Christmas. He celebrated Christmas with Aunt Marg Rogerson on Christmas Day and with our family on Boxing Day. Neil, Rick and I went to have a visit with cousins Paul and Marj Krauter, in Listowel on Saturday and on Sunday, Neil had dinner and a visit with Phil and Dianne Blake. He left bright and early Monday morning after his 10-day stay. McGavins held its business Christmas party on Saturday evening at the Walton Hall. They had Pine Ridge Farms cater to the meal for the over 40 present. The group was entertained by a variety of games and had lots of fun. It is the new year and celebrating new year birthdays include Dave Linton, Brent Melady, Courtney Bachert, Claire Mitchell and Alexandria Shahshahani. The month continues celebrating with Michael Craig, Don Nolan, Jason Baan, Stephen Henderson, Ben Hoegy, Jodi McIntosh Nurse, Sarah Stephenson, Marie Blake, Julie Mitchell, Caleb Ringgenberg, Laura Dawson, Logan Terpstra, Evelyn Blake, Stewart Steiss, Marjory Fraser, Luke Fritz, Judith Glauser, Susan McLachlan, Rob Mitchell and Lucas Jacklin. The club also received the Burn’s Farm Supply Award for top 4-H club soybean exhibit at the Seaforth Fair. The Pickseed Canada Award for both the top 4-H club 1/4 bale of first cut hay exhibit at the Seaforth Fair and top 4-H club 1/4 bale of second cut hay exhibit at the Seaforth Fair went to the South Huron Sheep Club. The club also received the Les and John Coleman award for top 4-H club haylage exhibit and top 4-H club winter wheat exhibit at the Seaforth Fair. The TD Canada Trust Award for champion 4-H sweepstakes showperson at the Seaforth Fair was presented to Myah Vingerhoeds. Mary Kate Higgins received her 30th club seal, Melissa Higgins received her 36th club seal and Maisy Jefferson and Jolande Oudshoorn receive their 42nd club seal. Adrian Franken and Reba Jefferson received their graduation seal. Getting done up for the party Rorie Bromley was certainly ready to celebrate the end of 2014 after Snippity the Clown painted her face at the Blyth Business Improvement Area’s (BIA) kids’ New Year’s Eve party on Dec. 31 at Memorial Hall. Aside from face painting, the event featured snacks, drawing and crafts for younger celebrators of New Year’s Eve to enjoy. (Denny Scott photo) Drawing in the new year The Blyth Business Improvement Area (BIA) welcomed younger New Year’s Eve revelers like Elizabeth Howson to a special celebration at Memorial Hall on Dec. 31. The event, which was aimed at youth, had approximately 40 participants, accompanied by parents, drawing, enjoying snacks, playing with balloons and getting their faces painted. (Denny Scott photo)
