(Photo submitted) Late last month the Kincardine Kinucks hosted the Regional Silver Stick tournament where the Blyth Brussels PeeWee Rep Crusaders enjoyed the ultimate success. The first game was against the Flesherton Golden Hawks, which ended in a scoreless tie. Their second game against Lucknow Sepoys was an important win of 15- 1 to help increase their tournament points. In the third game against South Bruce, the team exhibited a great team effort that led to a 6-2 win. Even though the PeeWees were undefeated in round-robin play, as a result of the tournament point calculations they earned the wild card position facing the number- one ranked team, Wingham Ironmen. This semi-final game was intense from the drop of the puck to the final shooter after double overtime and a second-round shootout, resulting in a 2-1 victory and allowing the Crusaders to play in the final game against the Drayton Defenders. Once again the team dug deep and worked hard awarding them a 2-0 win and becoming the PeeWee “C” Champions! An awesome overall team effort of positional play, great display of personal discipline and a whole lot of fun was accomplished under the supportive guidance of the coaching staff. The Crusaders will now be representing the region at the Forrest Finals International Silver Stick in January. Good luck team from your proud fans!
