ago, according to a copy of
the Huron Expositor ofVecem,Ver
9, 1898 which has been forwarded
by a subscriber ill Hensall. Much
of the activity described in the
paper could have referredto
1969. Merchants were decorating
their stores, large stocks of
special merchandise was ;being
brought in for the Christmas
trade and there was talk of the
annual Christmas entertain-
ments.
But there are differences too.
Brodericks Harness Shop was ad-
vertising sleigh bells and horse
blankets and S. Mullett & Co. of
Seaforth offered self feeding coal
stoves as low as $3. Hockey shoes
kvere $2. at the WAIN/tills Shoe,
Store and Abner Cosens of Wing-Li
ham was offering money to loan

ladles coats and offered them at

Mrs. W. Millson.

Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Davidson,

Prairie, were honored by family
and friends at an 'open house.'

November 6 on thp occasion of
their golden wedding anniver-
sary.
Mr. and Mrs. Davidson were
married on November 12, 1919,
at Balmoral, with Rev. E. Mason
officiating.
Mrs. Davidson, the former
Marjorie Main. was born in Eng-
land and came to Canada 1111905,
She received her schooling at
Balmoral.
Mr. Davidson was born and
raised at Walton. Ont., coming
west at the age of 18. He was
a station agent with the CPR.

years' s rvice, 12 of which were
spent at Balmoral and 21 years
at Macdonald. Man.
They' have three sons, Edwin
of -Macdonald, Leonard of Ed-
monton. Ala.. and Raymond of
Macdonald. There are four
grandsons and two granddaught-,
ers.
In earlier years both Mr.
and Mrs. Davidson were ardent
curlers. Mrs. Davidson is a
member of Ruth Rebekah lodge
No. 3 and Mr. Davidson, IOOF
Lodge No. 77, Arden, Man.
At the open house, the head
table was covered with a white
cloth,' centred with a four-tier
wedding' cake flanked by tall white
tapers.,
The guests were received at
the door by Mrs. Ray Davidson
and Mrs. Ed Davidson,daughtera-
in-law. .
Seated with the guests of honor
,were Mrs. R. (Dorothy) Brown
of Balmoral, sister of Mrs.
Davidson, and Mrs. M. Allen
of Saskatoon, sister of Mr.David-
son.
The couple were the recipi-
ents of many gifts, cards and '
flowers. Congratulatory mes-
sages were received from Prime
Minister P. E. Trudeau, Gerald
Cobbe, M.P., Gordon Johnston,
M. L. A., and from Mr. and Mrs.
Lapinsky in Rome, Italy.
The guest book, presidedover
by Pat and Nancy Davidson, was
signed by 140 including guests
from Vancouver, Carberry,
Arden ,Winnipeg, Balmoral, Sas.-
katoon and Edmonton:
A family dinner was held in
the Portage Hotel 'on Novem-
oer 12.
Mr. Davidson is a brother
of Miss Bessie Davidson, Sea-
forth.
