Resuming his service with Tuckersmith Telephone, Mr. Cornish in 1940 was appointed' secretary treasurer. He con- tinued to serve the system until April 1964. Mr. Cornish, who will be 79 in January and Mrs. Cornish who is 81, continue to play an active ' role in the community. A veteran of the first war,• Mr. Cornish enlisted with the 161st Hussars in December 1915. He is a life member and past president of the Clinton Branch ,of the Royal Canadian Legion. He is also an active, member of the LO.O.F. Brucefield. An active Liberal, he is a former chairman of the Stanley •Town- ship Liberal Association. Both are members of Brucefield United Church where Mrs. Cornish is active ,in the U.C.W. '? Mrs. Cornish is also a life mem- ber of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Clinton Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. Mr. and Mrs. Cornish have a family of two, J. Carlyle of Seaforth and Anna, Mrs. Roy T. Brock of ,Usborne. They have four grandsons. Members of the family sur- prised the couple on Sunday when they entertained them to dinner at the Dominion Hotel, Zurich, Guests then included a sister and brother of Mr. Cornish, Mrs. Norman Hannigan, Exeter and Mac Cornish of Sauble Beach and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Hill, Hayfield and Mrs. MargaretHill, Stratford. Mr. Hill is a brother of Mrs. Cornish. He spoke of the enjoyment children get out of fairs -, the parade, the merry-gp-round, and so on. He . stressed that young people don't need critics, they 'need examples. He spoke of the stress young people have to face, Mr. Starr said plowing matches go hand in hand with'fairs---- they Are a community effort, and he said' he would like to see more interest in plowing matches at the county level. He hopes town- ships and counties will continue to support the Plowman's As- sociation with grants. 'When you see a good plowman. Walton, Mrs. Love said it is not a frill but of real value. She feels it helps young women' to commune-, date with people. Mr Starr presented the Eaton award to ,Barry Gordon,. R. R. 1. Seaforth. Charles Becker, Exeter, won the Esso award and the international Harvester award. Les Armstorng of the FaIrm Program at CKNX Radio and T.V., Wingham, showed a film taken at the International plowi Match this past Octobei• which featured Gordon McGivin, Walton, -a long time director. A former agricultdral re- presentative of Huron from 1949 to 1951, Gordon Bennett, Toronto,' led the audience in a singsong with the assistance of the Queen of the Furrow. ' Hugh Hill of Goderich, a long time member, of the Plowman's Associazion, presided for .the election , of officers. Re-elected president for another term of office was Maurice Love, R.13.3., Exeter. Other officers are: past- president', Simon Hallahan, Blyth; vice-presidents, Kenneth Stewart, R. R. 5. Seaforth; and John Clark, R.R.5., Goderich; secretary-treasurer, Russell , Belton, R.R.1. MRS, JOHN GRAHAM Mrs. John Graham, 91, of Clinton, died' Tuesday in Clinton Public Hospital. She was born in Tuckersmith Toriship, the former Elizabeth Jane Dale, a daughter of the. late Mr. and Mrs. John Dale. He was born in Grey Twp., son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Huether, and employed as an auto mechanic at a local garage.' Whereas By-law 794 permitted one sign con-, taining maximum area of 316 square feet on a lot zoned industrial or commercial for each spe'cific establishment, this amendment increases the maximum -size of the sign to 40 square feet. 3.
