To calculate how much yO
can borrow or 'the amount of
credit you can afford: start with
your monthly take home pay.
Subtract the necessary monthly
expenses of food, housing, cloth-
ing and transportation.
Nexh subtract the total monthly
cost of those things that are
important but not essential -
recreation, travel, furniture,,
savings, continuing edKationtin-
surance, etc.

A, course 4n which tronlg in
animal, and poultry production,
past, present, and future, are ex-
amined and questioned, is part
of the livestock program offered
this year at the RidgetoWn College
of Agricultural Technology.
The course, given bY Mr. Don
Luckhani, head' of the Livestock
DiviSioe at the College, is an
attempt to make students aware pf
the trends they mill have to deal
with in animal production when
they are managing their ownfarms.
It is also a training ground to
teach these future farmers to re-
cognize and keep abreast of con-
sumer 'arid market needs.
The course covers such topics
as the switch. from .inpackaged
to convenience foods, the influence
of diet and health practices, the
use of crossbreeding, and its po-
tential, the future Impact of modern
practices such as estrus control in
swine, or the new feed grains
recently introduced In 'the West,
the new swine regulations and
suggested beef grading changes,
and the benefits of urea and rap-
eseed meal.
Mr. Luckham said he believes
it is essential that students keep
an open 'mind about all aspects
of agriculture, and that they learn
to evaluate current and future
farm practices, To keep pace•with
the changing world demand for
food, such an attitude is vital,

Is a Can
, Buyin' on credit is, q.
symptom of t .e 60s ,and if the

Credit comes in many
forms. A dollar bill, for ex-
am ?le. is really the govern-
ment's promise to pay. We
buy everyday serv ices on credit,
things like hydro, gas and tele-
phone. Actually people wan work
for other people are the est
gaup of .redit grantors in the
world.
Non-instalment credit is
involved when the bill is paid
all at once - like a utility bill.
Instalment credit is the kind
,4enerally involved with larger
amounts of money. It is called
purchase credit when you buy
something like a:'car or TV or
even your house. When ydit want
to borroyi cash,, it's called cash
credit. This money might be for
an emer:tency. a trip or some
special purchase
" Cash credit is ,,available
- from three sources 'a bank,
a credit union or a finance com-
pany. The borrowing of money
costs money. The amount of the
cost depends on the risk involved.
This risk must be balanced by
two factors-security and" finance
charges. If the security is high,
the finance chaige is :low.
If chef` security is low, the
charges will be higher. The se-
curity may be youi house, or car
or even your earning capacity
and trustv,rthinesS.
Credit -does cost money. So
you should take a long, hard look
at what you want. Be very sure
that having it will be worth the.
extra that the credit will cost.
Shop for. credit to be sure
you get the loWest cost and the •
best re-payment plan for your
c ircum stances. K now hoWlong the
payments must be made. 'Find
out . if you can 'pay off the con-
tract ahead of time. Check what
happens if you are sick and
can't` keep up the payments on
tine. Be sure the answers to
^^"these questions, are ,included in
the contract.
Read the contract careful-
ly and tie sure you understand
it thoroughly. And finally, be
very honest about your income ,
and financial affairs when you•
discuss the load with the lender.

How come?
Part of the reason could be because
there are so many Datsun dealers
around. Like 800 in North America.
200 coast-to-coast in Canada. Backed
up by,about two million dollars'
'worth of parts.
With that kind of suppOrt;Datsun
just doesn't seem like a foreign car
any more. It seems like a naturalized
