made by Mrs. Joseph Grummett
with some assistance in quilting
by her fellow lodge members.

Former
Walter O'Brien, of Staffa,
died Tuesday in the Stratford
General tHespital.
He was the son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Francis O'Breien.
For ,more than 2.) years he was
postmaster retiring in 1964. He
was' an elder at Hibbert United
Church, Staffa,, and a member
of the Tudor Lodge and the East-
ern Star Chapter at Mitchell.
He is survived by his wile
the former Jessie Lawton and
one son Donald of Trenton,MICH.

Edelweiss Rebekah Lodge inSea-
forth Friday evening. He was
the 1969 winner of a public speak-'
ing contest on ."The United
Nations". which was sponsored
by the Odd Fellows and Rebek-
ahs of Huron County.

A founding meeting for a
local chapter of the “Council
for Exceptional Children" will
be held at the Seaforth District
High School on Monday after-
noon at 4:15 p.m.
The response following an
exploratory meeting in October
was such that the C.E.C. de- .
cided to take further steps lead-
ing to a local organization.
The C.E.C. is interested
in assisting children who have
learning disabilities such as per-
ceptual handicap, partial sight
or hearing,. emotional problems
or one gifted. There is no charge
or obligation involved in attend-
ance at the meeting.
Althbugh the founding meet-
ing is being held at Seaforth,
future meetings will be sched-
uled for other centres. Accord-
ing to Edward F. Rooney of
Seaforth, 'who is interim com-
mittee co-ordinator.

Bill Charters, formerly of
Kippen area, returned to his
home in Exeter Thursday by
ambulance from St. Joseph's
Hospital: London •where he has
been a patient following a car
accident four months ago. He
is still in a cast.
Garry Stokes and friend of
London visited Saturday with his
grandfather, Robert Thomson.

Norman Dickert was admitted
