formulating policies,and carry-
ing out its objectives and projects
since it became self-supporting
one year ago. The Association
is financed by means of a check-
off on all Cattle and calves
marketed in Ontario and this
method pf financing has worked
out very well, according to ,
Archie Etherington of R..R. #1,
Hensall.
Mr. Etherington says the
Association finances are being
directed in various ways, in-
cluding:
-Beef Cattle Research at
Ridgetown, University of
Guelph and Kemprville.
-Consumer education.,
-Support of County and Dis-
trict Associations to carry out
projects.
In addition, the Ontario group
along with other Provinces, is
assisting in the formation of a
national voice for cattlemen, the
Canadian Cattlemen AssOciat-
ion. The C C. A. will be respon-
sible for matters which affect
producers right across Canada in-
cluding transportation, grading
standards, marketing, etc.
The producti on o beef cattle
has become big business in this
Province and the Ontario Beef
Improvement Association is now
in a position to speak on behalf
of all beef producers, he said.
Head Office for the Association
IS located in the 'Oitratici Stock
Yards, 'Toronto, and Mr. Ether s'
ington is the representative of
Huron on the Provincial Board Of
Directors.
