Q. and the highest price paid was $40.25 for a load Of 690 lb. steer calves. The high price at South River Sale was $38. 00 where 765 head were auctioned. This was for A pen of 14 Hereford male calves weighing 400 lbs. New Liskeard Sale was larger than usual with approximately 500 head sold. - The quality was good at all sales when steer calves brought the highest prices with heavier heifer classes demanding the 'least . Prices, in general, were slightly stronger at South River where buyers were present from Montreal, Welland, Ridgetown, Collingwood and Sturgeon Falls areas. Steer calves under 600 lbs, brought prices in the $36., 00 to $38. (JO range; heifers under 600 lbs. $33. 50; steers over 600 lbs. $33. 50; heifers over 600 lbs. $30. 00; steers over 800 lbs. $30. 25; heifers over 800 lbs. £27.75.
