The' Midwestern Ontario Re-
gional Development Council
(MODA) has announced t h
appointment. of M. E. G. Phillips
to the position of General Man-
ager of the Council. Mr, Phillips
comes to this position with ex-
perience in the field of regional
development. Previous to this
appointment, he held the posit-
ion of Assistant General Manager
of the' Eastern Ontario Regional
Development Council for the
past four years,
Born and raised in Eastern
Ontario, Mr. Phillips has been
associated with municipal gov*Ii
ments for many years, having
served on municipal council as
councillor, and as Chairman of
Nious committees,

The McKillop Thrifty
Threaders met at the home of
their leader, Mrs. Moylan,
assisted by Mrs. Murray. The
group put the blanket stitch on
a runner add practised the fea-
ther stitch on samples. Mrs.
Moylan indicated the uses of
the blanket and feather stitches
which are supposed to be put
under the samples. •

After serving with the RCM
during the war, Mr. Phillips re-
turned to Eastern Ontario where
he owned his own business for
seven years, -prior to his position
of Assistant General Manager;
In 1963, he receifetIthe "Man
of the Year" award from the East-
ern Ontario Regional Develop-
ment Council 'which is presented
annually to an individual who has
contributed significantly to the
economy of that region.
Mr, Phillips holds member-
ship in the Canadian Legion and
is an active Rotarian. His duties
with MODA commence on Sept-
ember 16, 1969.
