Dear Brenda:
To-night we are gathered

For the big event of the year!
As you know Brenda's to be
a bride
And mai, she always have
Jim at' her side.
It isn't so long ago you know'
From a baby to girlhood
Brenda did•grow
She soon was a lady in grade
one you see,
And busy as a bee.
Through public school she
did get, •
But she ,wanted more educat-!
ion yet
So to Clinton High she did g9
For a diploma proud to show.
Away to Alma College to
get higher yet,
She was & determined young
lady you can bet
Then to Stratford, off to train,
To help the sick in all their
pain.
Brenda had eyes for a certain
young man,
Jim being his name and from
Woodstock carne,
Jim asked for a date and
Brenda said, "You bet",
• He thought to himself she's
the nicest yet.
'It wasn't too lOng and Jim
"Will-you be Mine?"
And I'm. sure he well knew
When he saw her eyes shine.
We know they'll be happy
And for them is our wish
All the best and lots of
happiness.

The September meeting of
the U. C. W, was held in Duff's
United Church last Wednesday
evening. Mrs. Gordon McGavin
opened' the meeting by repeat-
ing the U. C. W. Purpose. Hymn
362 "Forever with the Lord"<was
sung with Mrs. Martin Baan at:
the piano. Psalm 714 was read
in unison, The offering was '
received by Mrs. Kenneth Mc-
Donald and dedicated by Mrs.
McGavin.
A musical trio number Was
given by Debbie and Dena Wey,
and. Gwen Bosman and all the .
members sang "The World is
Green and Fertile". '
Mrs. Campbell Wey gave the
topic on the "Study of China"
taking.,as purpose - to under-
stand the role and the goals of
working people in New China.
"Man and His Work" was writ-
ten by Roy Wylie and it was
discussed under the following
heads - State Socialism, Edu-
cation and Work, Communes,
City Workers,: Standard of Liv-
ing, A quiz was used during the
discussion.
Mrs. G. McGavin spoke on
the Study Book. The scripture
was read by Mrs. David Watson
taken from Matthew 6: 33-34
and St. Mark 10: 32-45 with
Mrs. McGavin commenting on
it and closing with prayer.
Mrs. Alvin McDonald wel-
,comed all back after the-sum-
mer recess and read a poem fol-
lowed by prayer.,
The minutes were read by
Mrs.. Allan McColl. 'Mrs. Camp-
bell Weay, Program'and Liter-
ature Convener explained dif-
ferent hooks which she had plac-
ed on display. The Treasurer's
report was given by Mrs. Kenneth
McDonald. The renewing of the
observers is done in.October.

Turkey Supper will be held
November 5.
The Walton church anniver-
sary will be held Slinday Sept-
ember 21 11 a. m. and 8 p, m.
with the Rev. ,Al, Grose form-
erly the United Church, minister
at Fullerton charge as guest
speaker. Mr, Grose is teaching
at St. Mary's secondary school
this year.
Thank you notes were read by
Mrs. Nelson Marks. Walton Unit
is responsible for the placing of
flowers in the church during
September.

'Cleveland was a recent guest
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
Thamer.
Mrs. George Dunda,s has re-
turned home after spending the
last two weeks at Toronto with
her son-in-taw and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. David Andrews at
Lake Simcoe,
Mr, John Williamson celeb-
rated his 92nd birthday on Wed-
nesday September 10. Congrat-
ulations and Best Wishes are
extended from his many friends
in the community.
Miss Helen Searle left last
week to commence her two year
nursing course at St. Joseph's
Hospital, London,
Miss Coirie Ruiyter of Strat-
'ford spent a few days with. Mr.
and Mrs. Jan Van Vliet.
Miss Linda Traviss left on
Tuesday for Kitchener where
she will begin the three year
nursing course at St. Mary's
Hospital.
