The third round in the Sea-
forth Golf Club Match Play
TOUtnament for the Don Eaton
and Brad Smith Trophy is near
completion.
One match between Ron
Littleton and Colin Stevens is
all that is remaining before the
golfers draw opponents for the
fourth round.
In the third round twelve
golfers competed and one, Vern
Scott received a bye into the
fourth.
Winners in the third round
include, Ron Savauge over John
Coleman; Bill McLaughlin over
Doug. Rowcliffe; Bill Reid over
Hank Reid Al Nicholson over
Cam Reid and Pat Flannery. over
Joe Czerwinski.
Seven golfers will be left in
contention following the com-
pletion of the third round. They
will draw for. playing partners
and one will receive a bye.

will not alter their standing or

The team will play in a 10-
team league encompassing
Stratford, St. Marys, Mitchell.
Goderich, Clinton, Exeter and
Seaforth. Stratford represents
four teams.
Seaforth bowlers will be in
for a treat when play gets under-
way. Proprietor, Gord Noble,
has had a busy summer installing
new pins and two new automatic
string pinsetters at the alleys.
The alleys are open this week-
end for the early birds who want
to get in a little pre-season
practice.

Activity at Seaforth Woes
pool wound up on Labour Day
after a busy season.
Reflecting the hot weather
in July and August, swimmers
during the summer totalled
' 26,795 up from 24, 752 the
previous year. Busiest day was
July 16 when 837 swimmers
used the poor.
Red QM examiners were
at the pool as the season closed,
to check out swimmers w ho
took part in the August lesson
series. Of the 89 who survived
pretesting 71 were successful
in the final tests carried out by
Red Cross examiners John Grain-
ger and Elizabeth McCauley of
London and Bob Nutley of the
St. Thomas Y. M. C. A. This
compares with 62 who passed
in 1968.

The Bowling season is upon
us once again!
1, 200, 000 bowlers from ,all
parts of Canada will be taking
their positions at the lanes to
start off the 1969-70 bowling'
season during September.
Throughout'the country Five
pins, 10 pins, Deck pins and
Candlepins are the games. Good
fellowship and sportsmanship
are the order of the day.
Competition, prizes, trople
ies and physical well- being are
the results of participating.
Bowling has something for
everyone. •
At the Seaforth Lanes, league
officers are forming their teams
and there are some vacancies
on many of the leagues. Most
schedules will be underway by
the end of September.
The St, James'Church League
and Egmondville League will
once again bowl Monday nights.
The Country Club promises
to return with another full slate
of teams on Tuesday nights.
Wednesday night the Mixed
Doubles and C. 0, F. Leagues
will,bowl at their usual time,
A stronger than ever Men's
Commercial League will once
again have the Thursday night
time slot and the Legion League
will return op Friday nights.

The Men's Intertown team
is ready to go and their sched-
ule begins Saturday when they
host Mike's Lanes frpm Stratford .
Fine weather has favoured
our n,ight jitneys lately and we
have had good turnouts. Last
Thursday night winners were
for the ladies - 1st. Elsie Dtns-
more 2 + 12 and 2nd. Mary
Finlayson 2 + For the men it
was - 1st. Neil Bell and 2nd.
Edgar Allen. Saturday night
saw Katie Phillips and Janet
Ford winning for the ladies, and
for the men, Clarence Walden
and Clare Reith.
Our local bowlers have been
taking part in out-of-town tourn
aments and on Labour Day a
rink comprised of Jack Patterson
and Ernie Rouse won 5th prize
in the M. & M. tournament
at Lucknow with 3W + 44. Alsb
the same day a rink of trebles•
with Lorne Dale, skip, Bill
Brown, vice and Art Finlayson,
lead, placed 6th in a men's
tournament at Elora. This also
was a double draw so our men
did 'well to wig their three

Several hope to take part
in the Prout and Lamont trophy
mixed doubles at Stratford on
Wednesday. We hope all our

Our season is getting shorter, so
we hope as many as possible
will come out before the cold
weather sets in.

swim association meet at Sea-
forth Lions pool on Wednesday.
