Dr. MacEwan, prominent

nearly 40 years, will deliver
his address at the annual ban-
quet marking the official open-
ing and will subsewuently be
introduced to. the grandstand
audience on the Friday evening.
Widely known as an agricul-
tural authority, Dr. MacEwan
is also recognized .as an author,
historian, educator anti able
politican, He was appointed •
lieutenant-governor of Alberta
in January, 1966, culminating
a career.begun'on graduation
from the University of Toronto
in 1926. He was born of pion-
eer parents who'farmed near
Brandon, Manitoba.
After acquiring a Master of
Science degree from the Iowa
State University, Dr. MacEwan
served for over two decades in
successive professional posts at
the universities of Saskatchewan

Dr. MacEwan has been the
recipient of the following hon-
orary degrees: Doctor of Laws
from University of Alberta, 19661
Doctor of the University of Cal-
gary from the University of Cal-
gary, 1967; and Doctor of Laws
from the University of Brandon,
1969.
