TEACHERS COMPLETE COURSE AT SDHS
over 100 Ontario elementary school teachers, who have been on course.at S. D. H. S. for the past five weeks, will complete
the course on Friday. The special course under principal, Elgin Fretz, is designed to aid teachers in helping slower children and
to hatch for difficulties children may encounter. Teachers enrolled in the course from across 16 counties, while Huron had the

Saturday, August 2nd. saw a
good turnout on the Seaforth
Greens for the annual watch
• tournament. First place, went
to J, Wintermute and partner of
Dorchester with 3W + 16 -agg.
(50). Second was another rink
from Dorchester skipped by
George Marr with 3W + 13 agg.
(52). Third was a local rink of
Jack and Donna Patterson with
3W + 12 agg. (46). Fourth prize
went to Johnny Bell and partner
of Woodstock with 2W + 17 agg
((2)., Fifth prize was another
Seaforth rink, Tom and Katie
Phillips with, 2W + 14 agg. (50)
Sixth went to Frank and Mary
Ruston of Mitchell with 2W + 13
agg (50). High one game win-
ners were Bert and Jean Gray of
" Clinton.
Last Tuesday night saw a good
turnout of bowlers and winners
for the ladies were Thelma Dale
and Helen Connell and for the
men, Ed. Andrews and Neil Bell.

way at the Seaforth Golf Course
officials reported.
The first round in theielim-
ination event for the Smith -
Eaton trophy has been complet-
ed and 17 of the 34 golfers have
been knocked out.

Winter wheat harvest is in
full swing. Some sprouting has
been observed, especially in
fields affected by the previously
reported strawbreaker disease.
Generally harvesting conditions
have been satisfactory With near
average yields and quality re-
ported.
Swathing of spring barley has
commenced.
The white bean crop looks
promising. Corn has made great
progress during the last few days.

The death of Miss Sarah Eliz-
abeth Mc Cloy took place in
Scott Memorial 1-16spital on
July 31st after a short illness in
her 90th year. She was born in
Tuckersmith, and ,wa the dau-
ghter of John McClo d Jane
Manson, She is s •d EFY one
sister, Miss Fer n of Eg-
mondville, and one brother,
David M. McCloy of Washington.
Miss Mc Cloy was a member
of First Presbyterian Church.
The funeral was held on Satur-
day from the R. S. Box Funeral
Home with Rev. J. C, Britton
officiating. The pallbearers
