You already know where most prices are going. Up. So
you'd naturally expect the brand-new '69 cars shown
here to cost a lot more than last year. Fact is, many
cars in this year's line-up from Chevrolet cost less,
rrxuch less, than last year's models. For instance, the
2-door Impala, equipped with power disc brakes,
Turbo Hydra-matic tratismission, whitewalls,
wheel covers and head restraints, plus a bigger
motor than last year, is yours for $120.50* less
than last year's figure. And comparable;savings

DEAR DORIS - We came from

I think it is a pity that they

times with my own grandmother.
She always seemed to have ,time
to talk to me and go for walks,

Isn't there some way to link

QU EST ION:
Dear Constable:
Can I bark on the opposite
side of the Highway facing the
traffic?
ANS WER:
The answer to that question
is covered under regulations.
Highway Traffic Act. 229 on
'Parking".. Section 2 of the
regulation states, "Subject to
section 3; where a person parks
a vehicle off the roadway of
the King's Highway, he shall
park his vehicle,
(a) on the right side of the
highway having reference to the
direction in which the vehicle
has been travelling; and
(b) so that the left side of
the vehicle is parallel to the
edge of the roadway. "
This section applies only to
King's Highways. Section 3 tells
about parking in areas off the
roadway that are signed.
QUESTION:
Dear Constable:
First, I must say that I am
mad, when I am writing this.
Yesterday, I was travelling on
#10 Hwy: and I was minding
my own business and driving
carefully, when I came across
a car stopped on the shoulder of
the road with the left front and
rear doors open and they pro-
jected. well over the travelled
part of the road, so muclrso
that I had to stop because., I
could not pass hint because,of
a car coming the other way. I
blew my horn for the person to
close the doors, but he paid no
attention,• he just kept bringing
something from the front seat
and placing it in the rear seat.
Because of traffic, I had to
wait for him to finish, before I
could pass. Can he legally do '
this, or should I have got Out
and closed his doors?
ANSWER:
I wouldn't recommend that
you close his doors for him, but
if you would like to point out to
the person that'the Highway
Traffic Act states, "Na person
shall,
(a) open the door of a motor
vehicle on a highway without
first taking due precautions to
ensure that his.act will not i&. •
terfere with the movement of
or endanger any other person or
vehicle; or
(b) leave a door of a motor
vehicle on aLhighway open on
the side of the vehicle available
to moving traffic for a period of
time longer than is necessary to
load or unload passengers. "
QUESTION;
Dear Constable:
I am building a box trailer
and I was wondering if I require
directional lights on it. Please
answer this week.
ANSWER:
Yes, you do require direct-
ional lights on it. The Highway
Traffic Act states. "Every motor
vehicle or combination of motor
vehicles and nailer having a
width at any part ineicess Of
80 inches or having a length in
excess of 20 feet shall be ,equip-
ped with mechanical or electric-
al signalling devices tharcom-
ply with subsections 4 and 5 of
section 69." A further section
of the Highway Traffic Act
states, "A mechanical or elec-
trical signal device shall clearly
indicate the intention to turn,
shall be visible and understand-
able during day-time and night-
time from the front and from the
rear of the vehicle for a distance
of 100 feet, and shall be self-il-
luminated when used at any
time from one-half hour after
sunset to one-half hour before
sunrise. No person while oper-
ating or in control of a vehicle
upon a highway shall actuate
the mechaniCal or electrical
device referred to in subsection
4 for any purpose other than-to
indicate a movement referred,
to in subsection 1 or 1 a.
The driver or operato; of a
vehicle upon a highway before
stopping or suddenly decreasing
the speed of the vehicle, if the
operation of any other vehicle
may be affected by such stop:-
ping or decreasing of speed,
shall give a signal plainly vis-
ible to the driver or operator of,1 /4.
such other vehicle of the intent-
ion to-stop or decrease speed.
(a) by means of the hand
and arm extended downWard be-
yond the, left side of the vehicle;
Or
(b) by means of 'a stop lamp,
or lamps on the rear of the ve-
hicle which shall emit a red or
yellow light and which shall be
actuated upon application of
the service or foot brake and
which may or may not be 'in-
corporated with one or more rear
lamps. "
