T. girls • 'were hosts on Sunday evening foe a farewell party in honor of David Scott who is leaving for Vancouver on June 27th: David will be working for C. U. S. O. in Sarawak for the next two years. Mrs. M. Lamond welcomed everyone and the C. C.'. T. girls Sang "cod is the Lord", accom- panied by Mrs. G. Laing on the accordian. This was followed with scripture lesson from chap- ter 3 of Ecclesiastics, verses 1- 12, read in unison by the girls. The guest speakers, Mr. and Mrs. John Brown of London were introduced by Mrs, Laing. They told of their C. U. S. 0. exper- iences and showed slides of the people, the country and fellow workers in Zambia. Mrs. Lamond thanked Mr. and Mrs. BrOwn. All joined in singing "Lord We Thank Thee for Our Brothers". M.r, Calder McKaig read an address of good wishes to David and presented him with a gift of money. David made a suitable reply and told of -his desires and hopes while working in C. U. S. 0. movement. A former minister of Cromer- FUNERAL MRS.CECIL BOWMAN Death came suddenly on Friday night, June 13th to Mrs. Cecil Bowman1 of lot 13, con- cession 8, Hibbert Township, the same farm on which she had been born. Formerly Etta Mabel Yea she was born February 19, 1892, a daughter of the late Harry Yea and the former Emily Stoneman. Educated in the township arid in Seaforth Collegiate Institute she later attended Normal Scho- ol. She-was a schoolteacher pre- vious to her marriage in 1926 to Cecil Bowman who survives with several ni eces and nephews. She was a Member of Staffa United Church,- Staffa Women's Institute, Staffa-Cromarty Sen- She was predeceased by three brothers. . Rev. A. FkDaynard conducted the funeral service at the Heath- Leslie Funeral:Home, Mitchell, on Monday afternoon with inter- ment in Staffa Cemetery. John Sadler, Harvey Hamb- ley, Arthur Kemp, Leslie Mil- ler, Robert Norris and Russell Miller acted as pallbearers.
