KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS AND SHRINE MEMBERS VISIT CFB
Members of the Knights of Columbus and Shriners at CFB Clinton recently hosted members
of the Knights of Columbus General Assembly, Seaforth, members of a number of Shrine
Temples in the area, and their ladies, at a social evening in the Base Orbit Room. It was
the first time that a get-together of these two fraternal organizations had been held on the
Base and the evening proven-0 be so enjoyable that plans are now being made to make it an
annual event. Among those attending the get-together were (left) Mr. and Mrs; Clayton
Looby of Dublin and (right) Major and Mrs. Frank Golding of CFB Clinton. Mr. Looby is
the Faithful Navigator in the 4th degree of the Monsignor DJ Egan General Assembly of the
Knights of Columbus, Seaforth, Major Golding is a member of the Shrine Rameses Temple;

A large crowd attended the
pot luck supper at Elim'ville
United Church on Friday even-
ing. Supper was served from 6
to 8 with strawberries supplied
by the U. C. W. after which a
picnic and social time was en-
joyed,

OBITUARIES
JOSEPH B. ROACH
The death of Joseph Benedict
Roach, age 76 of Wilkie, Sask.
occurred May 15 in the hospital
after a lengthy illness. Mr. Roach
was born in Seaforth, Ontario,
where he received his education.
He taught school for 3 years in
Ontario before coming west to
Kerrobert in 1916 to be.with his
uncle, Dan Hughes, In 1923, he
was employed by the C. P, R.
After 20 years of service he re-
tired as a conductor. After the
death of his uncle, Dan Hughes,
he managed the extensive farm
land of the estate. For nine
years, Mr. Roach was in the
plumbing and heating business
and for a short period, he had
an office in Unity, Sask. He
was a keen promoter of sports,
and civic activities in the com-
munity. He had no children but
was interested in young people's
activities. He was survived by.
his wife Ruth, nephews: R. Roach
and Dr. K. °Roach(Toronto), Ro-
bert Roach, Kirkland Lake, Sask.
neice Mary Clinton, Montreal,
many relatives in Ontario and
Detroit, Mich.
The funeral,was held May
20 1969 at St. James R. C.
Church, Wilkie, Sask, .at 2 p.
m. Father N. Fiest,
conducted the service, The St.
James choir sang. Burial took
place in the Wilkie Cemetery,
Donations to charities in lieu of
flowers were to the Cancer Fund.

Mrs. Ray Murray and Mrs. Peter
Van Drunen.
VISIT NIAGARA FALLS
Grades 6, 7 and 8' went on
a bus trip to Niagara Falls' last
Wednesday. They toured the
Falls, the R. C. M. P. exhibit,
Tussard's Wax Museum. They
crossed to Niagara Falls, N. Y.
where they visited the aquarium,
rode to the top of the Oneida
Tower on outside elevator and
looked over the city -and the
Falls.
On the preceding day Grades
3, 4 and 5 went to Kitchener,
visited the Big Al T. V. program,
also the. Fire Flail, and other
Ones of interest. At the sarrie
time Sister Mary entertained
Grades 1 and 2 and the pre-
schoolers to a picnic in the
woods.

held a Kitchen and Pantry Show-
er for Miss Verna Christie (bride-
elect) Monday evening at the
home of Miss Brenda Kerslake.
Miss Lynn Sinclair sang and a
mock wedding was enjoyed.,
Verna received her gifts in a
Wishing Well.
Miss Brenda Kerslake is at-
tending the 4-H Girls Conference
at the University of Guelph this
week.
Miss Rae Butson flew to Win-
nipeg on Tuesday to visit with
relatives.

CLARENCE KESTLE
Clarence (Dutch) Kestle, 76,
a -former resident of Seaforth,
died at Stratford General Hos-
pital'On Friday. He is survived
by his wife, the former Mary
Pollen, of 91 Dufferin St. ,'Strat-
ford and a son, Gerry, Stratford.
Funeral services were held there
on Monday, June 23rd. .with in-'
terment in Exeter Cemetery,

Public funeral services for the
late Mr. 'William Archibald
(Archie) Hoggarth of R. R. 2, Kip-
pen, will be held from Bonthron
Funeral Home, Hensall, Thurs-
day, June 26th at 2 p.m. with
Rev, Robert Bisset of Avonton of-
ficiating. Interment will be in
Hensall Union Cemetery. Mr.
Hoggarth passed away Monday in
St. Joseph's Hospital, London,
'where he had been a patient for
over two weeks. He was fn his
66th year and leaves to mourn
his loss his wife, 'the former Ruby
Ingram, one son Al. , R, R. 2, Kip-
pen; two sisters Mrs. John (Mar-
garet)Ingram, Hensall; Mrs. Wes-
ley (Mary) Green, Mitchell and
three grandchildren. The late
Mr. Hoggarth was a member of
Carmel Presbyterian Church, Hen-
sail, and an elder of the church
at the time of his death.
