he was required to answer was

Mr. and Mrs. Don Rigby of
Blenheim, visited over the week

returned home with them for a
visit.

attended the shower held Fri-
day evening. The house was
tastefully, decorated in pink and
white motif. Mrs. Harry Cald-
well, a former school teacher
of the bride-elect read the pre-
sentation address and Dorothy
, Kipfer, Dorothy Skea, Ann Bell,
Shelly Kipfer, Marjorie Schwa-
lm presented the gifts.„
Miss Greta Laramie favoured
with piano selections and accom-
panied at the piano for a sing-
song. Mrs. George Hess and'
Mrs. Cecil Pepper directed con-
tests. Mrs. J. E. McEwen, who
compiled the bride's book, pre-
sented it to the bride-elect.

groom-elect's mother, Mrs.

MAKE GIFTS TO GUELPH
Hensall firemen were called
to the home of Whs. Mary Hilde-
brant of Richmopd Street about
9 p.m. Thursday night when
lightning struck a lean-to at the
rear of the home setting it ab-
laze. The severe electrical
storm which passed over Hensall
around 5 p. m. also' did other
b damage. A large elm tree with
a double trunk on the farm of
Stewart Bell, one mile and a
quarter west of Hensall, w as
struck by lightning, several T. V.
sets,were damaged and an elec-
tric elock on the wall of a re-
ef sident was struck and completely
dismantled.

end at the Pinery.

Exeter, were guests, last Thursday
with Mrs. J. E. McEwen,

a Presbyterial Workshop in Pais-

Mr. and Mrs. Laird Mickle
and Charles returned Tuesday
evening of last week from a
motor trip to Bethleham, Pa.
They attended the Baccalaure-
ate Service at Lehigh University
Sunday for the graduate relativ-
es and friends and on Monday
Mr. and Mrs. Mickle attended
the, graduation excercises when
Charles received his Master of
Arts Degree in International
Relations at 'the University.
VISIT DETROIT
Beatrice Thomson, along
with pupils of grade 6, 7 and
8 of Hensall Public School will
go by bus ‘Wednesday to Detroit,
Mich. and will tour the Museum,
the Zoo and Greenfield Village.

ich Squadron, received its form-
al charter at a dinner, charter
night Commander's ball, in the
Officers Mess, Canadian Forces
Base, Clinton, Sanirday'evening,
Nearly 200 persons attended
the gala .affair which was hon-
oured by the presence df the
Chief Commander for Canada,
Howard S. Rees, N., a tnsmber
of the Ottawa Squadron. '44'
• Commander Rees presented
the charter to Dr. G.F. Mills,
Goderich, first commander of
the new squadron, assisted by
George P. Coppin, JN, London,
Western Ontario District Com-
mander.
Officers of the new Squadron
were sworn in as follows: Com-
mander, Dr. G. F. Mills, God-
erich; Executive Officer, Lt.
Cmdr, E. B. Menzies, S, Clin-

R. S. Atkey, Clinton, received
the award for Advanced Piloting,
a course which , he had taken
with the Daytona Beach, Florida,
Squadron of the United. States
Power Squadrons.
Greetings were brought from
the USPS by Past District Com-
mander Keith Brookes, Port Hur-
on, Michigan.
Commander Rees stated that
the Canadian Powei Squadron is
a nationwide association of Can-
adians interested or active in
boating and sailing. He said the
objective is to establish a high
standard of 'skill in handling
small boats, -improve ability
through training.

Huron County Board of Educe
ation and Clinton Public Hospit-
al Board have signed a two-year
lease for office accommodation
in the Nurses' Residence, Clin-
ton, at $2, 500. a year, com-
mencing July 1, 1969, it was
reported to the former body at
its meeting in Central Huron Se-
condary School, Clinton, Mon-
day evening.
The Board of Education will
be responsible for payment of
light, hear and water bills;snow
removal and caretaking, inside
end out; and completion of its
own alterations.
The Clinton Hospital Board
has agreed to put in a gravel
parking lot with reservid park-
ing space for 20 automobiles;
and to provide a separate entry
for Health Unit employees and
patients.
Alterations to the Nurses'
Residence are estimated to cost
$3, 211 at an agreed on price,
made up as follows:
Lighting, $1, 692 (providing
for lighting intensity of 80-foot
candles as presently exists in the
Board Room); partitions, doors,
removal of built-in desks and
vanities, $1, 324; painting $295.
The report indicated the fol-
lowing equipment and machine
requirements: furniture for Dir-
ector of EthiCation, Business
Administrator. Superintendent
of Schools, Assistant Superinten-
dents, Chief Accountant and
Office Manager. Purchasing
Agent, Flant Superintendent,
three secretaries, two clerk-ty-
pists, three.clerks, general of-
fice equipment, less three ex-
ecutive desks and three secret-
arial desks on hand,
Equipment and machines:six
typewriters less three already
owned; duplicating equipment
(one owned, 'one Gestetner to
be purchased); photocopying
equipment; calculator (two if
payroll done centrally); adding
machine; filing equipment(some
owned); cheque protectograph
machine (already owned); two
dictating 'machines; electric
postage meter; air conditioners,
Various supplies recteired include
letterheads, envelopes, etc.
For the above, the Budget
Review Committee and the Board
approved a maximum expendit-
ure of $17, 000 and the Boar d
already has established a capital
expenditure review Process where-
by the Executive Committee has
the authority to authorize Cap-
ital expenditures to a maximum
of $2, 000. per item.
The Board approved a motion
"that the Executive Committee
of the Board be authorized to
proceed within the limits of the
budget established"

At an indoor picnic in the
Legion Hall on Wednesday,
June 11th, Hensall W. I. voted
to contribute $25. 00 towards
the $50, 000 needed for Expan-

MILTON WILLERT
Funeral services for the late
keltob Willett of.Goderich was
held Saturday from Stiles Fun-
eral Home, Goderich, with bur-
ial in Maitland Cemetery, God-
erich. Mr. :Willett passed away
in Alexandra and Marine Hos-
pital, ,Goderich on Wednesday.
He was 52 and is survived by his
wife the former Gladys Saund- •
ercok, formerly of Hensel'. He
is survived by a daughter, Pat-
ricia, at home, his mother,
Mrs; Amelia Willert, Dashwood; •
one brother Alvin, Exeter; sis-
ters Mrs. Cliff (Doris) Penhale,
