Lavis, chairman of Huron.County Board of Educat-' ion, .has: received a letter from a group of Roman Catholic Sep- arate School supporters in the' Township of East Wawanosh (former Union School Section No.3). The letter informed the Board that a meeting required 'by Part 11 of the Separate Schools Act, in dealing with the establish- ment of Separate SchoOls, has been held to establish a separate school in that section permission for his two children . to attend South Huron District High School, Exeter. This was granted on 'motion that payment of the appropriate fees he paid by either the Middlesex County Board Of Education or the parents. New Teachers 'Appointed By County School Board 13y Richmond Atkey Following discussions at re- cent meetings as a result of a minor incident involving 'a school bus going to Holmesville School, Huron County Board of Education requested reports o n the qualifications for school bus drivers, and also specifications for school buses. This information was returned to the Board at Monday evening's meeting in Central Secondary School, Clinton. Acdording to the manual for school bus operations issued by the Ontario Department of Trans-1 port, a school bus driver must ' (1) Be 21 years of age or over; (2) Pass a special driving test con- ducted by the Department of Transport in a school bus; (3)File a medical certificate of physical fitness and pass a more rigorous vision test than is required f or the ordinary driver; (4) Show a precise knowledge of the rules of the road and skill in sign recog- nition; (5) Acquire some know- , ledge of bus and equipment main- tenance. Regulations made under the Highway Traffic Act concern- ing school buses deal with the following topics: position and size of lettering for the words "school bus" and "do not pass when signals flashing"; size, location and operation of signal lights; colour; mirrors; tire chains or snow tires; speedom- eter; construction and insulat; ion of body floor to exclude ex haus't gam; windshield wipers; interior lights; emergency eq- uipment; tires; exit doors and t mergency doors;push-out win- HAPPY CITIZENS The June meeting of t h e Happy Citizens was held in the Legion Hall with nine tables of euchre playing.
