ident to the Board of a bus op-
erated by Huron Automotive

by Richmond Atkey
Two Blyth housewives were
deputations of one person each
before Huron County Board of
Education which met in Huron
County Council chamber last
week..
Mrs. Phyllis Street, mother.
of children attending Blyth Pub-
lic School, made a strong plea
for action in connection with
unsanitary conditi,9Ds existing
in the playground of the school.
She claimed that raw sewage
was entering from the septic
system.
1
„
'he children came home
last winter, their clothes soak-
ing with sewage', she declared.
She pointed out that this sewage
problem had arisen only •
months after the school had.
been built.
' "Sometimes the odor is so
had, it goes two blocks away",
she said.
Board Chairman John 1,11' vis,
Clinton, said that this and other
matters were being worked out
with the former arcliii'Ler', the
contractor and the Department
of Health. lie wondered where
the responsibility lay.
However, as a beginning,
a Motion was passed that 'the
offending area he fenced off .•
immediately and,that a full
investigation he made forth-
with by Board members and of-
ficials. The chairnian invited'
'hoard inemhers in see die sit-
uation for themselves.
Mrs. Clenyee Snell, also
a Blyth housewife, stressed that
school children should he taught
languages other than English.
She requested a fulltime teach-
er in Blyth Public School to.
teach French,' and possibly Rus-
sian and Chinese, the languages
that might: he needed in the fu-
ture.
The request was referred
to conimi ttc.c.
