the form of a pot luck supper.
During, the evening a farewell
gift was presented to Mrs. Lou-
ella Christie who is moving to
Kitchener and who thanked the
ladies for the gift. Maple Leaf
pins were also presented to Janet
Ford and Pat Bennett who a r e
soon going to be, vacationing
overseas. Previously Miss Glad
Thomson had been given a pin
before her trip.

On Wednesday the candid-
ates were introduced' to the
Student Body at a special as-
sembly. The candidates for
President gave short speeches
and this year's president, Murray
Hulley advised the students to
vote wisely. The election
which was held on Thursday
proved to be, very close. When
the votes had been cast and
counted it was determined that
a tie existed between Bruce
Wilbee, and, Neil McDonald for
president. The students voted
again to break the tie between
'the candidates and the election

. On Thursday evening two
buses from Habkirk Transit set .
out for New York occupied by
students from-S. D. H. S. /and a
few invited friends.. They ar-
rived in New York pn Friday
morning around 9 o'clock. The
day's agenda included a tour
of the city - Chinatown, the
Bowry and the Statue of Liberty.
In the evening the studentshad
free time which they used in
'various ways. Sbme went to
see the broadway production of
'Hello Dolly' and others attend-
ed clubs or dances in Green-
wich Village. Saturday the
students toured' the United '
Nations and had more free
time for shopping, .0n Sunday
morning those who wished at-
tended mass at 4t, Patrick's
Cathedral. The buses left
about10 o'clock and arrived at
Seaforth about eleven p. m.

Passes
Suddenly
Residents of Zurich and
community were saddened to
learn of the sudden passing of
Mrs. Raymond McKinnon, 41,
who died suddenly at her home
in Zurich Saturday with a heart
attack. Her husband, ..manager
of the Bank of Montreal at
Zurich for four years was recent-
ly transferred to Haliburton and
a farewell presentation was
held for them May 11th. Mrs.
McKinnon was voted "Mother
of the Day". Surviving are
her husband, seven sons, Kevin,
Shane, Kimberly, Randall,
Jeffrey, Wayne, Derek, one
daughter Nancy Rae, her
mother, Mrs. Rose Lowry,Perth,
Ontario, four brothers, John,
James and Lloyd, Perth, Ont.,
Thomas Halifax, N. S., two
sisters, Mrs. Vern( Agnes) Mc-
Kenney, Smith Falls, Mrs.
Gerald( Rose) Ryan, Perth.
Mrs. McKinnon was the
former Elizabeth Ann Lowry of
Perth. The remains rested at
the Westlake Funeral Home,
Zurich until Monday then were
removed to Blair and Son Fun-
eral Home, Perth for funeral
mass in St. Johns R. C. Church
Tuesday. Interment was in St.
John's Roman Catholic Cemet-
ery.
