Two portable classroom
units for use in the Huron County
School System will be purchased
by the Board at a cost of $7, 950.
"Extras", such as special carpet-
ing, bookshelves, coat racks,
teacher's cupboard and window
shades, will be obtained as
soon as possible.
The County Board is buying
the units from Halliday. Homes
Limited, R. R, 5, London, on
recommendation of the commit-
tee: Gordon Moir, Gorrie; James
Taylor, Hensall and J. W. Coulter,
Board employee, Goderich. ,
Committee members recent-
ly inspected "portables" of three
companies including General
Coach Works of Canada Limited,
whose price was $8, 924 plus
$140. freight. The Halliday
portables will be built on site.
After considering appear-
ande, construction, mobility
'and price, the committee re-
commended, the London-built
product.

Mrs. Emerson Anderson present-
ed the lesson assisted in. the
scripture readings by Mrs. Keith
Love and Mrs. John Anderson.
Mrs. Russell Consitt gave
an account of life in China as
seen by Prime Minister Trudeau
a few years ago. The president
Mis. Robert Elgie had a number
of added items of business to
decide upon after the reading
of the minutes by the secretary,
Mrs. H. Binhendyk and included
the sending of the bale 'in May
and purchase of a projector and
plans for the summer picnic in
June and agreement to provide
the September programme at
the Blue Water Rest Home. In-
stead of a strawberry supper in
June it was decided to have a
canvass of members by the
June meeting. Mrs. Ken Mc-
Lellan gave the treasurer's re-
port. Mrs. Leonard Lovell ex-
pressed courtesy remarks, Mrs.
Jack Bell and Mrs. Wayne Mc-
Bride, the hostesses served
refreshments.
TUCKERSMITH, UCW
The Tuckersmith Unit 1 of
Brucefield United Church met
Wednesday evening at the home
of Mrs. Gordon Richandson in
Clinton.
Mrs. Mac Wilson and Mrs.
Patterson were in charge of de-
votions. Mrs. Wilson opened
with a poem entitled "This is.
May." The scripture, read by
Mrs. Patterson was taken from
"Good News from Modern Man. "
Mrs. Norris Sillery opened
the business part of the meeting.
Roll call was answered.by 23
members and 6 visitors.
A parade of funny hats and
a penny sale followed. .Mrs.
Ross Charan offered her home
for the June meeting.

W. Baird opened the meeting
with a reading "A Wonderful
Mother." The scripture, Luke
Canadian Forces head-
quarters has announced forma-
tion of a new warrant officer.
school at Canadian Foices Base

The school will provide
leadership, management and •
supervisory training to personnel
of, sergeant and warrant officer
rank as a prerequisite 'to promot-
ion to master warrant officer.
, Students will be drawn
from the land,. sea, and a i r
branches of the. Canadian Arm-
ed Forces. They will study sub-
jects formerly taught in sep-
arate schools at CFB Kingston
(land element), CFB Cornwal-
lis (sea element) and CFB Bor-
den (air element).
Training at the school is
scheduled to begin in October.,
There are 26 instructors and
enrolment of 800 students
yearly is expected.
Courses will last for six
weeks; with an average of 96
students in residence,
Formation of the school is
part of planned reorganization
of the Canadian forces' train-
ing programs to increase '
economy, efficiency and effec-
tiveness.

the business of the meeting. Roll
call revealed 22 members and
one young visitor present. Mrs.
J. Cornish gave a report on
correspondence.
The June 11th meeting will
be held at the church. Worship
and Devotional Mrs.' C. Hen-
derson and Mrs. D. Triebner.

The Burns' U. C. W. met
at the home of Mrs. Heckend-
orn Tuesday evening with 16
members present.
Mrs. Jim Scott opened the
meeting with a reading "In doing
our daily tasks." She also read
the scripture taken from Psalm
111. "Diary of a Bible" was
read, and Mrs. Scott led in
prayer. The Study book on
Japan was given by Mrs. Rice.
Mrs. Bell conducted the
business session. Roll call was
answered by•a Bible verse. The
treasurer's report was given by

been transferred from CFB Clin-
ton to CFB Borden. Relocation
of communications operator and
radio technician training prog-
rams •at CFB Kingston is now
under way.

Shorten
School
Holidays
School holidays will be one
day shorter for Ontario school
students next spring.
The Christmas, winter and
Easter holiday dates for the
1969-70 school year, announced
by the Ontario Department of
Education, show that because
Easter falls early next year
the holidays will be a day short-
er.
The Christmas holiday will
be from Dec. 20 to Jan. 4.
The winter holiday will be
from March 21 to March 29, and
includes Good Friday which, alls
on March 27 next year. Easter
Monday, March 30, will also be
a school holiday. The spring
term will begin March 31.
This year the winter holi-
day was from March 17 to 21.
The four-day Easter holiday was
from April 4 to 7.
