New Pump Brings
Added Fire Protection
To Brucefield Area
It was a big night for Tuckersmith and Stanley
Townships as officials of the two municipalities
took official possession of a new $13, 300. fire
truck.
The truck was delivered about two months ago
and already has been used on two calls: It will be
operated by the 20 member Brucefield Volunteer
Fire Department,
Owned jointly by the two townships, the new
fire truck replaces a twenty year old model which
now is offered for sale,
The modern equipment has a 500 gal. capacity
tank and a pump which can produce 350 G. P. M.
It, carries a high pressure fog reel and two 21" and
l-t" discharge lines. It is mounted on an Internat-
i Ita0600 loadstar chassis.
The brigade also has an army truck equipped
with a 1, 000-gallon water-tank and portable pump.
Fire Chief Stewart Broadfoot said the new truck
makes his department fully equipped. The town-
-ships also have a comparatively new fixehallibuilt
four years ago, at ,Brucefield.
Daniel Bailey, a representative of the Hamilton
firm, turned the keys over to reeves Elmer Hayter
of Stanley Township and Elgin Thomp'son of Tucker'-
smith- Township,
It was getting dusk as the dem-
onstration ended with fireman Gary
Triebner directing one of the high
pressure hose with 'which the truck
is equipped.
