It's that time of the year, gals,
so you can forget about being
with your husband for the next
few months — unless of course,
he doesn't play-GOLF!
Be brave gals, Cheer up. Al-
ter studying this warm weath-
er malady for, some years and
re-earchiniz extensiively, I've
come up with a few ideas which
may possibly rectify the prob-
lem confronting golf widows.
But before we start, these
methods are not guaranteed, and
I don't want a freight car full of
mail demanding my column be
discontinued for false advertis-.
ing.
HOwever, if you follow these
histructions, you'll get results,
but again,' let me warn you
that I will not be held repon-
sible for whatever the results
may be.
Also before we, go much fur-
ther, you must realize and ac-
cept that basically, golf is a
man's game.
Okay, I am aware of the fact
that many ladies take to the
links and many of them can
match the fellas putt for chip.
But I am dealing with the av-
erage weekend golfer who dis
appears ih the early morning
mist of , Saturday and is not
seen again until darkness comes
Sunday night.

Also, more and more of these
average golfers can enjoy the
-luxury of escaping .from the
business world once or twice
during the week to play nine
holes, thanks to daylight saving.
You, gals must realize • that
golf is not a chronic sickness
with your mate. So, don't , treat
it as such.
Nophing 'will aggravate yotF
husband more than' being nia;gged)
about his playing of golf being
paralled to a chronic disease.
This will only make him angry,
and in all likelehood, he'll at-
tempt to find any excuse to
head for the fairways.
Such is the way of human nat-
ure.
Well, here are a few basic
rules to follow if you want to
keep hubby home to prune the
hedge• on the weekends and to
help with the grocery shopping
during the week.
Monday night serve him a
bowl of soup you know he de-
tests along with a couple of
sandwiches on stale bread. When
he enquires just what the devil
is going on, smile lovingly, and
coo: "I haven't been able to do
any shopping. honey, cause you'
ye been away."
Tuesday night when you're
shopping, make sure he is aware
that you are selecting his favor-
ite.. cut of meat. •
Wednesday night drink. When
he comes home and finds you
slurring your words he'll want
fast' answers. This is easy. Just
tell hint that you were, so lone-
ly and nervous that you thought
you'd have a tiny . nip and re-
lieve your nervous tension. Then
snuggle up close, run your hand
through his hair, and suggest
in your own feniinine way that
you feel so much better having
him close to you.
Thursday 'night invite yout
mother-in-law over 'to stay. the ,
night. Make sure she stays
awake 'to "chat!' to hubby when '
he corner home. When he asks
Why you 'did this, smile and say: '
"Gosh, honey; I just wanted
somebody-to -talk to tonight and •
Mom was the only person I
could think of, besides your-
self.
Chances -are you'll have hub-
by to converse with the follow=
ing Thursday evening. '
Friday night Invite a gang of
friend's over for a party, which
has to last until 4 a.m. This will
eliminate any possibility of hub-
by joining the boys on the' first
tee at 6 a:m.
Saturday night yep could stig-
gest an evening, out (if your
mates feels up to it)
Oh yes, when, you're suggest-
ing an evening out on Satur-
day, make sure to remind hub-
by that you wouldn't want 'to
stay up too late as you realize
he'll want to he up early for
his golf game Sunday morning.
Sunday morning complain of
sickness. leave• that up to
you.
Well, I hope these suggest-
ions work. Anyhow, I've ,got to
run, or I'll be late for nay golf
