Hubby lusts laughs at me
DEAR DORIS — I am so up-
set and I just don't know where
to turn. Yesterday was our 18th
wedding anniversary and I was
all dressed up when my•husband
came home, and he couldn't• fig-
ure out why I had. on my Sun-
day best on Monday. I was deep-
ly hurt. I asked hira ,if the mar-
riage meant so little "to him that
he just laughed it off.
You see he told me once he
should have married one of his
former girl friends and this
has starved his mind since. I
have this tight heavy feeling in
my chest and am so depressed
at times; that I just break down
and cry. '
I have told him. numerous-.
times what's trembling me but '
he laughs at me and says I'm

DEAR DORIS — How do you'
`bring down' people when they
tease you about being,howlegged
(boys, I mean)? Should my hems '
be kept just above the knee? Are
the new ' 'elephant pants' , just
the thing for me? •
Hate Being Teased
pEAR -HATE — The teasers
would love to know you minded:
So the secret cure is to ignore
them — which is all such rude
guys deserve.'
Practise walking and stand-
ing gracefully with one leg"al-
most in front of the other. Many
models and movie stars do this
and fool everybody about the
very same ,figure fault.
Keep hems as close to knee
cap as you cad stand to. Elephant

husbands forget anniversaries.
The girls put mare stock in
them.
But those other things in
your letter (of which I have
room for only a small part); cry-
ing, being ignored, insulted,
laughed at. And you say' he used
to'be a wonderful husband.'
I find myself Wanting to know
what happened, when, to make
him change. In any union there
is interaction, and neither. in-
dividual does a single thing in
isolation. It is all a reaction to
something the other one did,

DEAR DORIS — you WO
about rehabitation and the mari-
tal patient who is convallescint.
Most important is the reas-
urance he finds in his' home, his
community, his friends and soc-
iety at large. Par more import-
ant than the half-hour once-
monthly visits to his doctor or
psychiatrist.
After all, it is 'in these areas
that he is living 24 hours a day,
seven days a week. And I think
it is fair to put the onus for
' tapping these resources largely,
on . the ex-patient himself, so
that he is not in the degrading
position of receiving charity
from •do-gooders.

DEAR PSYCHY — I see. It is
a sign he is beginning to fun-
ction normally if he can take a
few steps on. his •own.
Indeed, good mental health
is shown by the balance a per-
son can achieve when he walks
along (figuratively); and the re-
silience which helps him to
bounce back when he gets a
blow.
