LARRY SNIPER
MOTORS PIVOTED
It is some years since Seaforth
Highlanders were a regular feat-
ure of community entertainment
except perhaps the -appearances
which former members made'
during centennial attivities dur-
ing tiler last two years.
There was a time, however,
and it extended over many, years
when the Seaforth Highlanders
were widely regarded and in
heavy demand for engagements
throughout the district.
That this was .sio is indicated
by a poem found by Mrs. Jack
Burehill of 'Dublin and .which
had been clipped and saved by
Mrs. Jason Burchill, the former
Dinah Robinson of Seaforth.
Mrs. Jason Burchill died three
years ago at the age of 91.
OUR HIGHLAND BAND IS ON
• PARADE'
(by Alfred Stafford) •
Our highland band is 'on parade,,
Their-drum is oh the_ beat,
Scotch kilts show up instead, of
pants,
White shoes• adorn their feet;
They follow their conductor up
• With instrument in hand,
Regalia clad 'they look the part
Of Seaforth's highland band.
(Chor.)
Impressive, yes, but -none the
less,
When they do music play,
Their mission is to thrill and
'bless, .
And make Our hearts feel gay.
Grand home sweet' home, God
save the king,
Or rule Britannia airs,
Or even yet the highland fling,,
Will banish gloom and cares.
Up main. and •down or to the
park,
Else to band concert stand,
Hard is the heart as will not
yield, -
To music with command;

Our band is out to do their bit,
Yeas welcome it we will,
Our band 'most truly able is
A yearning heart-to; thrill..
Our- highland• band is an parade, ' Deserving of renown,
In every way it' truly is' „
A credit to our town. •
Like you, I give the boys a boost,
'Ico help them march along,
A helpful, word, a silver gift,'
Will keep them going strong.
Man shall not live- by bread
alone,
Is true to-day' as yet, ,
SC let us all to it agree,
--I And . not :our band forget,
In harmony, there solace is,
A living hand' will grace,
One thing is certain, music
canned;
Will never take their place.
Our highland heti& is on-parade,
Each time we them review,
At heart we are compelled to,
say,
They They cheer us up, they .do;
Iii gratitude -I pen this verse,
On -purpoie this to• say,
Encourage them, as citizens,
Our highland bandds c:in parade,
And' Seaforthites they be,
Their music sweet as is homer
made,
Should strong 'appeal to thee,
White silver bright, or yellow'
gold,
Most truly I have none;
Bid in.the writing of this poem,
I give gift number one.
